Roger, I started out with stories and then got so many rejection slips I tried newspapers and never got another rejection. And finally my short fiction sold, often the same story several times. From writing tight and short, I can't seem to stretch my fiction into novels which I'd love to do. My only book, . . . And the Whipporwill Sang is non-fiction and a promise I made to my daughter. It's funny, poignant, won the Nesta Award for writing that helps make a difference, and is well-received, but now I'd really like to try novels. I can't believe you wrote 9 of them!! I wrte a 1000 wd short story and my pen just stops. :)
Nice talking to you,
Hi Roger! Thanks for joining our group!!! Feel free to post goodies about your writing so everyone can check you out. :) If you want more info on the book special that's being run now (only 9 more days) check it out here: http://jodiambroseblog.com/2013/03/05/sexintimacyfood/
Have a great weekend!
Lol. It is a made up word for a person whose parents were born in Puerto Rico and the person was born in New York. :). Usually we say we are Puerto Rican or Boricua, but really, Puerto Ricans are persons born in P.R. You have a sense of humor. If you find out where to sell your stories, let me know, I have been reading that blogging yields income, but who knows who is a legitimate publisher?
Tis a wonderful thing to learn something everyday. Thank you for the notice.
You see I'm the opposite... I hate the cold and love the heat. One of the reasons I love living in Bali and my feet were even cold here this morning!
Well I'm back off to bed... just got up early to check out my free Kindle downloads. OK... but not as good as last time although the book's up to #9 in SciFi in the UK and #11 in the US so I mustn't complain.
Good luck with No 2. As for the UK? We visit every year... but this year was special... my step-daughter had a baby so I'm now a Gran! Man, it WAS soggy... my other daughter and I left on Monday and it was beautiful - shame we only got 3 days of good weather!
Hmm... Helsinki... I've never been there...
Hi Roger... how are you? I've been away on holiday in the UK (left just as the sunny spell started!). Anyhow I just wanted to tell you that I bought myself a Kindle, and have changed my Amazon account so that I can now download eBooks. I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten you and I have your Old Geezers on my list to download. It may take a few weeks, but I will get to it, I promise.
I hope you are enjoying the summer (well... it was winter until a few days ago wasn't it?!) and that there are no more blunders regarding the Olympics like the boy who flew from Manchester to Italy without a ticket and displaying S Korea's flag for N Korea!
I caught a couple of episodes of 2012 when I was back but as always, truth is stranger than fiction!
Yes... that wouldn't surprise me. I'm just deliberating whether to leave my eBook exclusively on Kindle for another 3 months or to give it to Smashwords. I had a fantastic response to last week's 3 free days. I was gobsmacked. Over 1,500 downloads. I only wish I knew how it got so much exposure. I've been madly marketing it of course, but didn't think I was doing that good a job. Anyhow, I think I'd like to get it on iPad so I don't think I'll do another 3 months with Amazon.
Thanks for that, Roger. I also checked out your Old Geezers (did the look inside thing on Amazon) and I'd love to read it. Love your humour! But, as yet, I don't have a Kindle. Also, as I live in Indonesia, with the pirating laws there are restrictions about downloading books. But I'll be back in the UK in June so I can get the paperback then.
Looks like your wife and I would get on then!?!
I hope you enjoy Zul. Let me know what you think...
Regarding your previous post, I only joined Shelfari this year so I've still got a backlog of books to put up there... it seems we have very similar taste! I really enjoy looking at what other people have read and it's amazing how I'm reminded of books I've read in the past that I'd forgotten about. There are many I'd like to re-read but don't because there are so many books I've not yet read.
I don't want to be pushy, but I just wanted to let you know that my sci-fi thriller is free to download on Kindle [http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0073M876M] on Thu, Fri & Sat this week... just in case you read eBooks and fancy reading an offering from a new author. The website is [http://www.thezulenigma.com].
