I'm a book addict currently living in China, teaching English as a Second Language to hyperactive elementary school students. I love the Sherlock Holmes series, Lee Goldberg's Mr. Monk series, and Sophie Kinsella's books. I'm currently trying to read one classic a month, along with a dozen other books.

Hi Alex.Yes,living in third world countries can be difficult bookwise. Its good that you can stock up on home visits, and the kindle is a definite godsend. After years of deprivation living in Africa,on returning home I made sure always to have loads of books.I normally have about 40 to 50 out at a time, from 2 separate library systems,on several tickets.
I see you joined shelfari around the time I did,but havent been active,so its great that you have joined the group.Hope you can get some great recommendations :0).
We have quite a few books in common, especially kids stuff. Please do check out my shelf, and check out the tagged childrens books and picture books. We seem to have a lot in common, maybe you will find more.
I am almost up to 3000 on my shelf, definitely want to reach that very soon.In fact recently various people mentioned books that had read, and it jogged my memeory.I added seven Richard Montanaris alone, plus about a dozen others by writers I had forgotten. It was a huge boost to my total.I thought I would end up about 20 short, but those lucky additions helped enormously.I love the shelf feature on shelfari, just sweeping along brings back great memories of 55 years reading.Fantastic
