    Hi Susan,

Long time, no note. Anyway, I remembered you liked my short story "The River's Eye." You might be interested in knowing that I have completed a novel and published it on Smashwords (http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/131156) called Drasmyr. It is a vampire novel set in a fantasy world with wizards, warriors, etc... I hope you read it and enjoy it.

How was the Patrick Swayze book? I know it was probably sad. My dad had pancreatic cancer at the exact same time so I was def rooting for a miracle for both! Sadly neither got it. My dad passed away only a month or 2 before Patrick Swayze. I dont know if I could bring myself to read the book =(

Ah, I meant Vancouver Island in my mind and didn't say it right. That's the place of wonder I remember bicycling around. I loved that big stone hotel downtown. I've enjoyed Debbie Macomber books, too. I try to write mostly about young adult novels here for sharing with other people who work with adolescents and early 20's. It's really hard to match books to readers and their interests if you don't know the books! Adult fiction has long held my attention, though, and that journey has been a long and rewarding one for me.

P.S. I've bicycled around Vancouver in my youth and loved that city! You are so fortunate to live there! I used to live in Tacoma, WA and Portland, OR and love the Pacific Northwest!

HI Susan W. Yes, I have been extremely busy and haven't checked my site for a while. Just posted three books by Gary Schmidt that I liked. I am writing a dissertation this semester, so my brain is occupied. Thanks for your note!

I am just happy that my daughter now appreciates reading so much. I remember when she was little and I'd have my nose stuck in a book and she would stand there and say, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom and after about 8 of those I'd finally answer her, she would be so mad at me. Now her kids are doing the same to her. She is so smart and I couldn't be more proud of her. Love her to pieces and miss he alot. I can't wait to move back to Colorado so we are closer. Thnaks for the note.

I love your pic too! =) I have many books to pass along! You are def goin to love Inkheart! They start out slow I will say but they have to be the most beautifully written books I have ever read. I missed being in Inkworld when I wasnt reading. It was so vivid. I have the Immortal Secrets Of Nicholas Flemmel on my TBR list along with the House of Night Series. The Wicked Lovely series is AMAZING! Im rereading them now because book 5 comes out end of this month!!! I would also reccomend the Intertwined series. It has 2 books and is to die for! They are Harlequin (sadly) but give it a chance!!! Its on my list of top ten FAV books ever! The Darkest Powers series is also great. They are kinda morbid but romantic too and great reads. If you liked Septimus Heap (which are so cute) then you would prob also like Fablehaven. Those books are impossible to put down. Very fanatsy and non-stop adventure. Id reccomend ANYTHING by Brandon Mull! Hes a fantastic writer! Ive enjoyed all of his books. I couldnt put a single one down =) Aprilynne Pike has a series that starts with Wings. Its very cute and romantic. Fallen by Lauren Kate is a pretty good read. Not one of my favs but its good all the same. It has a sequel as well. There are just too many books and not enough time. I wish my eyes could read faster haha! Your note made me happy lol since I hardly ever get to talk to anyone about books. =)

Hi Susan... I love my tarot cards and oracle decks. I would recommend that if you are not planning to actually use them that you choose an Oracle deck to check out first, as they are simple cards with insightful messages that you can just pull one-a-day from or do small 3 card layouts with. Tarot cards are actually used in specific spreads to tell a story or predict an outcome to a question. I used to be the Assistant Manager for the largest metaphysical bookstore in Colorado, so I have seen and own a ton of decks. I would definitely recommend Colette Baron-Reid's Wisdom from the Hidden Realms Oracle deck. It's fantastic!! Feel free to ask me any questions. Also to check out more tarot decks and the like check out www.azuregreen.com

Thank you for your kind words regarding my story. Actually, if I recall correctly, I came up with the title first and wrote the story based off the title. I just liked the phrase: "The River's Eye." Then, I made a story to go with the phrase... an odd way to do it, I suppose. I think most people write the story, then select the title... I do that too, sometimes.

Been busy with some photography I post on my facebook page and I started sewing a quilt block a day on facebook, to hopefully eliminate some of my scraps, but a 6 inch block doesn't use many scraps up. Not too much reading lately.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a stand alone book suggestion but have you read the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning? I final book in the series just came out today and there is lots of excitement surrounding it. Also another good series that totally took me by surprise is the Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. Very good as well. If I think of something stand alone I will let you know.

I am really enjoying Shelfari although I sometimes forget to update it when I'm finished reading books.
Trying to get a handle on that in 2011. :)

Hi Susan ~ I have not heard of L.A Banks before. But after checking her out I have definitely added her Crimson Moon series as well as her Vampire Huntress Legend series (12 books) to my shelf. I know that she does have some YA, but both of these series definitely sound Adult!!! Yummy!!
