I used to read a lot, but not so much these days (moving from the farm to the city will do that to a geeky girl). Still, it's a favorite past time of mine, and I manage to knock out a book every two weeks or so. I'm a big lover of sci-fi, fantasy, children's/YA lit, and yes, the occasional romance. I'm not into non-fiction or historicals too... more »

That's certainly a possibility. . . I was toying with the idea of proposing a group read for when Pegasus comes out, certainly, but I'm open to discussing books before then. I'll post a thread and see if anyone else wants to do it.

    Hi
I thought it would be better for us to chat about Hawaii here. I lived in Waikiki. It was lots of fun but it had its bad moments too. It was way too far from the base, way expensive, and just too transcient. Oh and we had to pay for parking which was expensive. We had lots of friends that lived in base housing and it was very nice. My husband and I were right out of college and didn't have kids at the time so we didn't do the military housing. The island is very expensive and I get that. We also had friends that lived as far away as Kailua and commuted to Pearl daily. It is beautiful on the windward side but we decided it was too far and too much traffic.

Do you have pets that you will be taking with you? You do know that they have to go through quarantine? I heard horror stories so you might not want to bring them if you have them. Also do you have school age kids? Schools in Hawaii are very bad unless you do private which is incredibly expensive.

I recommend traveling to the other islands. They are a blast. Especially take advantage of KMC (army post) on Big Island in Volcano Nat. Park. They have incredible cottages for very cheap price. Just make sure to book early. Maui is awesome. The other islands are nice too but Big Island and Maui are my favs.

This is all I can think of right now. If you have any questions let me know and I'd be glad to help out if I can.

Some of my friends (basically everyone in my Just The Vamps group)are talking about Raven Hart (Savannah Series)...I think I will read it next. Just wanted to keep you in the know. Keep in mind The Fever Series is not a love story...its an urban fantasy.

As for the Kindle...I had a problem with memory and had to do a reset...so that sucked. I'll give it a few more days...but it may go back.

I always come to you with my computer/electronic questions. You were right about the Zen - I love it!!!

Thanks for the link...I read everything and I will hold off for now. I have a lot of pdf books friends have sent me and I'm in the same boat as Evy...I get eye strain from reading on the computer. I have printed them out at work and read them at home - but reading on loose leaf paper even if I put it in a 3 ring binder is bulky and not very comfortable. So......I guess I will just keep on fighting the battle of the ever expanding bookshelves. :D
btw we have the LCD flat screen in the den, a plasma in the kitchen and a plasma in the masterbedroom....the other bedrooms and exercise room just have regular TV's - The LCD is the best by far.

I have tons of music on mine too! You know I'm a music freak. I'm a member of audibles.com ....So far I've just used my free download. My library has audiobooks but we don't have the capacity to download from their site...I can check with another county to see if they have it.
