My username refers to the fact that for most of my high school and college career I couldn't go anywhere (and I mean almost everywhere) without some stranger telling me I looked just like Rory Gilmore (played by Alexis Bledel).

Like everyone on Shelfari, I love reading during my spare time. I typically have two titles being read at the... more »

What a coincidence. I look just like myself in the mirror. Wait, that's not a mirror, it's a painting of a werewolf. How about that. I must shave soon.

Same here! I'd been super busy there for a while and didn't have much time at all for browsing. Now though, I have plenty of time and am excited to be reading/getting new book ideas. I have to admit, yours is the first shelf I look at whenever I sign on to see if you have any new additions :)

If you enjoyed the hunger games then I definitely recommend the other side of the island.

The Princess Plot is the first of a series, which I didn't know until I finished reading it. So you may want to pick up the second one before you read it. I hate waiting on sequel books :P But I use paperbackswap.com for all my books and sometimes it can take a while to get books in.

I recently finished Red is for Remembrance (the 4th Blue is for Nightmares book), and have just started Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz. I can't remember, have you read the Blue Blood series?

    I'm back!

Las Vegas was great fun - it's the maddest city on this whole planet by far. It's not somewhere you visit, it's somewhere you experience!

Death Valley was excellent too - really amazing scenery, and so much natural beauty too. A great contrast with the man-made fakery of Vegas!

I'll tell you more about it when I've had a chance to collect my thoughts!

    Wow, where's the time gone?

Flying out to Vegas in the morning!

Sounds like the house is pretty good if you just need to update the decor.

Going away to the ocean sounds good. We're frustrated at being 70 miles away (which is about as far away as you can get in the UK!)

Will check out some Linwood Barclay some time. Just loaded the Kindle with 12 new books for the trip!

Double congratulations on house buying and getting engaged - two of the most time intensive things in the same year - no wonder you've not had much time for reading!

How's the house coming along? Have you had to do a lot to it?

And how's the wedding planning? Have you set a date? What about a honeymoon? I got married 5 years ago - exciting times! It really is a day you'll never forget.

Margaritaville looks fun - will put it on the list of suggestions. Really looking forward to the trip.

We're hiring an RV and driving out to Death Valley to stay around there for 3 or 4 nights and then heading back to Vegas for the "main event". The RV company want to charge $100 for bedding, but I'm sure we can just go to WalMart and pick up pillows, bedding etc. for about $40 (or less?) and then donate to a charity store when we're finished. It's the same for pots and pans. We only need a saucepan and a frying pan, so I think we can get those for around $20 and donate them too. Is that sensible?

Will get back to see the rest of the US in the future, we're just doing Vegas (because you have to go at least once) and Death Valley this time. Grand Canyon is on the list of places you just have to go to, but it's just a bit too far from Vegas as we only have 10 days.

Book wise, I was also kicking myself for not reading The Hunger Games sooner, it was very good. Haven't read the other ones yet, but I will when I see them going cheap.

I recommend Lee Child, the Reacher series is very good. I think you can start with pretty much any book - I've read them all in random order. Evil at Heart was good, looking forward to the next one - The Night Season. And I haven't read Heartsick yet (I read Sweetheart first, then Evil at Heart).

I'll add your recommendations to my wishlist too - it's always nice to be recommended new authors. Peter Robinson was recommended to me in 2009 and I read loads of his books last year - it's a nice way of coming across new people to read.
