Not Rory Gilmore

Not Rory Gilmore

Like everyone on Shelfari, I love reading during my spare time. I typically have two titles being read at the same time, but sometimes more.

Some of my favorite authors include Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, Meg Cabot, Carl Hiaasen, Megan McCafferty, Sarah Mlynoski, Stephen King, and Laurie Halse Anderson. Just a few not all inclusive. more »

Did you already send me your address to ship Curtain to you? If so, I've lost it somehow - my crazy life and mixed-up brain score again! Would you please send it to me again and I'll get your book into the mail. Sorry!

We aren't sticklers on the monthly tag at all. If it was tagged contemporary, AND it is fiction, I'd say call it contemporary fiction and feel free to post your review on that thread.

I liked Step on a Crack, looking forward to Run For Your Life when it makes it to paperback. Just picked up Cross Country this week.

I read Sweetheart last year and enjoyed it, but I still haven't read Heartsick. I've stopped reading Koontz and moved on to other authors instead, too many disappointing reads.

Some of my favourites so far this year (no particular order):-

    Graham Hurley - One Under
Michael Connelly - The Brass Verdict
Mark Watson - Crap at the Environment
    Lee Child - One Shot
Scott Mariani - The Heretic's Treasure
E.V. Seymour - The Mephisto Threat
Sebastian Faulks - Devil May Care
Joseph Teller - The Tenth Case
    Neil White - Last Rites
    C. David Ingram - The Stone Gallows
Mark Gimenez - The Colour of Law
Scott Pratt - An Innocent Client
Mark Billingham - In the Dark

Hi! I just noticed your group Challenged Readers through a friend's profile and was interested in knowing more. First, my TBR is morbidly obese, and while I'm on the path to a new personal record reading 8 books this month, I usually average 4-5 books per month. However, I only have internet access a couple days and I have quite a few groups that I try to keep up with. Anyway, I'm rambling, but could you tell me a bit more about how your group works? What is your groups current reading challenge? Is it a group that I can skip a challenge and come back at a later date?

    Hi Not Rory,

I got your book in the mail yesterday! Thank you very much. I hope I can use it for the Amazing Read Challenge at PBT for the England leg. BTW are you playing too? I'm really excited about the determination of the teams...

I do hope you are able to get funding to go. Sounds like you love your job! I mostly do cataloguing, actually. So, I'm usually hidden away from people. I'm good with that, though. I really like cataloguing. (Can you tell from all the lists and organizing in the games, maybe!? hehe!) And, to be honest, as a librarian, there aren't a lot of cataloguing jobs - most places hire a technician for it.

We are a small academic library, so we don't do book clubs or have authors, usually. I think our school did have an author come once, though - organized by the English department, maybe. I can't quite remember. I didn't go. I actually live quite a ways from where I work, and I don't drive, so it's a little more awkward to get home if it's outside of rush hour - we don't have the greatest public transit here. It's o.k., but it really is geared more towards getting people to and from work downtown.
