Hello! I am just dropping you a note to let you know I was checking out your shelves. I took some ideas for future reads. I also have boys- our youngest son is dual diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Autism. I struggle with Fybromyalgia and my husband is a deacon. I just think we appear to have some similar interests and life styles.

DHA-a very long word. It is sold in health food stores and online under the name neuromins. It is now being put in some baby formulas. It is for brain development and it helps ADD. It's an omega 3 oil made from algae. It is also in fish oils but they can cause a bad aftertaste. We switched my grandson from fish oil to flaxseed oil because of the taste. The pills are great for older kids because they are tiny and soft. My son could swallow them without water.

nothingwithoutjesus, have you tried any special diets for your son. My son had ADD. I gave him DHA daily. It really helped. I took him to the Minirth-Myer clinic. I didn't like the clinic in Little Rock so I started out on my own to get help. It's not very easy. His dad refused to believe there was anything wrong with him. He had a rough time as a teen because of that. He is 27 now and he's wonderful. He and his family are members of First Assembly of God also. He owns a franchise business here. I will be praying for you and your son. I understand daily pain. Doylene

I agree that it is awesome that there are so many different kinds of Christian books. My taste is pretty varried and I go through phazes for certain types of books. I will read an author like crazy then all of a sudden say.. okay now that is enough of that! Time to find a new author or genre. I am overwhelmed that there are so many books out there I want to read and so little time to read them all! Because of that I never ever force myself to read anything. If it doesn't catch my attention right away I put it up and try again at some other time. Life is just too short for a badly written book! Don't you think so?

Thanks so much for the reference! I just finished the first two books by Lori Wick (moonlight on the millpond and just above a whisper) and am looking forward to the third.. have you read them? They are set in the 1800s and have romance and mystery and people seeking God and to understand what salvation is. They are sweetly written and lifted my heart!

Hi, happened across your profile and admit I have not looked at your bookshelf in depth yet, but I just started reading christian fiction and love it. I have been a christian my whole life but never even realized these books were out there. I wanted to know if you could recommend some to me? I can't find a list anywhere.. why is it that every other genre is easy to find tons of titles and authors? I am reading Moonlight on the Millpond by Lori Wick and am really enjoying it.

Thanks for accepting!! I see you have presumed Guilty on your list. I just bought it a few weeks ago at the Mt Hermon conference. The author of that book was one of the very nice people I got to meet. I gave him a copy of my book and he sent me a copy of his very few novel.
    Take care!!!

Thanks as well! Am delighted to be listed in your friend's list here. Am enjoying State of Fear, but am looking forward to his writing like Eaters and Timeline, am more into the adventure stuff of Crichton. Btw, try to see The Shack by William P. Young. Promise I won't let you down, it's a very different kind of fiction. Happy reading! ;o)

Thank you so much for the in on the book about gnosticism. My post will be removed soon just as all posts about Oprah and this movement, but I'm glad to get the name of the book. If at least one person gets it I will be happy.

I would definitely recommend Poisonwood Bible. It has some implications for the Christian reader, as it deals with a missionary family. I think the message is a great one.
