I've started reading when I was very little, thanks to a huge curiosity towards everything made of paper and to my mum's suggestions... And I never stopped since then. Now I appreciate every single book so much more, as I can see the author's efforts and ideas behind it, and learn so much from it.
Some of my favourite authors are Haruki... more »

I think I will read it sometime. I've been looking at it for awhile because I heard about it before. Did it pick up at the end or did it stay like that once it got a little boring? I probably have talked about My Sister's Keeper before! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it! It is really beautiful; some of Picoult's books are like that. You'll have to let me know what you think when it ends and we can talk about it in more detail. If you're interested in Picoult's books I can also recommend a few of my favorites.

Thanks for the note. It's very rare to find another Mark Watson reader! I've read and enjoyed all of his books as well as seeing his stand up show earlier this year.

Not too many Jonathan Coe readers here either!

I think my shelves are up to date, but I haven't had much time to update them recently so I'm not sure they are 100% accurate...

Hi, I just saw the question that you posted about Kissed by an Angel (looking for something to read after Twilight...). I haven't read that one yet, but I would recommend The Blue Blood Series by Melissa De La Cruz (Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations, & The Van Alen Legacy - due out Oct. 6th) if you haven't read those. They're another vampire series, but this author's take on their origins is so interesting!
Also The Hunger Game & Catching Fire are amazing, if you haven't read those yet.
    Hope that helps!

    Heya
    Yeh I've just finished it!
I really enjoyed the end,it really made you think, what is real? is everything just a story or someones imagination? etc
however I found the middle bit hard going - I think that was baecause I didn't know about many of the philosophers mentioned so some parts of the book seemed like reading a history book
I think for anyone who has studied philosophy it would be a great book though

That's how I feel about Twilight as well. I've read other supernatural works (even young adult works) that were thought out so much more and written better. While I was reading Twilight I was totally hooked on it, to the point where it was almost like there were drugs in the pages or something. But after I finished it I thought about it and realized that other books were organized and thought out much more. It's a fun story, I think, but not the greatest in the world. I will definitely take a look at City of Bones.

I definitely recommend A Great and Terrible Beauty. It really hooked me and is such a fascinating read! The imagery was fantastic. And it's a trilogy so the story continues! That's always fun. :) I'm planning to buy the next two this weekend. I also liked Ophelia a lot. For me it had a slow start and finish because it begins before and ends after Hamlet, but the part that took place during Hamlet was a lot of fun to read because I knew what was going on and had all these visions of Ophelia during the play and it put a different angle on her character.

I also finally bought Envy! So I plan to read that before the semester starts. I should read it before the rest of the Gemma Doyle (A Great and...) trilogy because the last two books have 1300 pages combined and I think I'll be hooked once I start reading. (The end of summer is nearing...two more weeks before school.)
