“Shute didn't know how to write a dull book and this one is no exception. It's a true page turner and my favorite of Shute's books. In it, you follow the adventures of an engineer on a quest halfway across the world. On this quest, he must frequently accomplish the next leg of his journey using primarily his wits alone. I found myself reading much later than I'd planned to find out how he got by some problem which had cropped up to block his journey.”
