Wodehouse is my favorite humor writer. His command of the language never fails to delight and entertain. He had the ability to turn the most mundane situation into a source of amusement. His stories are filled with demanding aunts, slightly dim aristocrats, and butlers who are able to solve any problem.

This is my favorite work of humorous fantasy. It's a compelling read and never fails to make me laugh out loud. It's hard to believe this came from the same author who wrote The Marathon Man, which is an excellent book in its own right but is radically different than The Princess Bride.

Shute didn't know how to write a dull book and this one is no exception. It's a true page turner and my favorite of Shute's books. In it, you follow the adventures of an engineer on a quest halfway across the world. On this quest, he must frequently accomplish the next leg of his journey using primarily his wits alone. I found myself reading much later than I'd planned to find out how he got by some problem which had cropped up to block his journey.
