I've kept a list of all the books I've read since I was fourteen. This served me well when I discovered Shelfari, for which I must thank my lovely wife. For the most part the books I've read are listed in the order I read them, though there are some notable exceptions. I had a hard time listing the books I love enough to read more than once-right now Shelfari does not seem set up to accommodate that sort of thing. So Heinlein's Stranger In a Strange Land, Tolkein's Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Bradbury's Dandelion Wine should all really be listed three times. Also there are several books (actually sixty-five by my calculation) that I can find no listing for on here at all. And there are those books I read before I started to keep a list of such things. I devoured much of what Heinlein and Bradbury wrote long before I started writing things down, for instance. So I've reconstructed from memory what I've read by each gentleman and arbitrarily plunked that down near the current end of my entires here. Plus there are the occasional random books I just forgot to write down, like Richard Adams' Girl In a Swing. (Maybe I wanted to forget that one?)
My reading tastes are extremely eclectic-a lot of what I enjoy might be termed fantastic fiction (science fiction, fantasy, & horror) but I also love mysteries, historical fiction or a "plain" old novel if it is well written, plus I have found I enjoy the occasional biography or general non-fiction work. There will always be a special place in my heart for books featuring the Pulp heroes of the 30's and 40's.
As for me: I have been married for twenty-two years to a wonderful woman. She has saved my life more than once. We have one son, Colin, who at thirteen is the apple of his father's eye. I have resided in a sunny and warm corner of Texas all my life. I love my wife, my son, movies, books, comics, music, good food, my friends & family. I am part French and part American Indian (Cherokee) but I am told there is a lot of other stuff mixed in. I try hard to be more than the sum of my parts and I hope I succeed.
I own several thousand books that I have yet to read-you will only see those listed here as I read them. I'd rather be busy reading something I haven't gotten to as opposed to taking the time to write it down. Peace.
