I've kept a list of all the books I've read since I was fourteen. This served me well when I discovered Shelfari, for which I must thank my lovely wife. For the most part the books I've read are listed in the order I read them, though there are some notable exceptions. I had a hard time listing the books I love enough to read more than... more »

Hi Nighthawk, I tried to reply to your email about featuring book blogs on Bookworms, but Shelfari has it set to do not reply. Would you mind putting mine into the hat please? It's www.pageplucker.com - thanks :-)

Ohhhh I'm dying to read the Desert Demons, but unfortunately I rarely get time to read physical books. Thanks to my 2 1/2 daily commute my main source of entertainment is restricted to audio books.

I won't kill you! Promise!! While I am enjoying the Hunger Games series, I don't think they are nesc. great works of fiction. It's kind of like the Harry Potter Series for me... something relaxing and gluttonous to indulge in that doesn't require a lot of thought. I'm kind of curious to see it transition into a film since it's so inner dialogue based, but I think putting a monologue on the film would pretty much ruin it. I am hoping they take the opportunity to instead turn it into a 3rd party film more as in they develop all the other characters to a greater extent. I feel like if we don't have to hear about her shock that a boy likes her, etc. that they'll be much more exciting.

LOL. I think I did that a few months ago. I haven't had the time to do much other than update my shelf lately and you always participate in the discussions. I thought you might be able to help keep things active in our group. I think I sent a note but I don't recall for sure. Anyways, no pressure to do stuff, just wanted to give you the opportunity to do more if ya want.

Just finished up Water For Elephants on my business trip a few days ago. I agree with you. I thought it had a strong start and then there was this big chunk where nothing really happened other than us following the lead character around on a moment to moment basis. By the time things started to happen again, they weren't big enough to justify the wait. The last 50 pages were really strong as well, but not in that "Oh this changes everything!" sort of way. While I did love her writing style it wasn't enough to make up for her pacing. I feel like this is one of those books that would have been amazing had someone just taken 1/4 to 1/3 of it out. I think I'm going to check out the movie, because I think Christoph Waltz is genius casting for August.... though Robert Pattinson I could live without. I think I might be reading the next 2 books in the hunger game series within the next couple of weeks as I'm going to borrow them from a friend. I'm pretty pumped for that.

Thanks for recommendation on what to read next! I'll put that at the top of my list for my next library run. Today I picked up Water for Elephants which I'm reading now and the next in the Golden Compass series. Also, I found out I have to read the last two in the Hunger Game series by 02/12/2012!! Eek! I think I'm going to pick them up when I'm away on business. :)

You know, I am not going to sweat it too bad if I don't make the goal, but after a year and a half of barely having any me time, it feels really decadent to spend so much time doing something I love. I also really want to read a lot of graphic novels this year, which are super fast reads so I think it'll even up. I'm already a half week ahead! :)

    How are things with you?!

Oh I know!! I'm dying to start the second book, but we're reading them for our newly formed book club (and then going to all the movies together). Unfortunately since people's schedules are really busy this month (I myself will be out of town for a full week and a half for training for work), we won't be meeting till the second Sunday in February. And I can't start the second book until then.

I just started working at Jenny Craig as a Weight Loss Consultant and already I love it. The hours are far fewer, I get to help people reach their goals and I leave each day feeling energized and refreshed. It's truly amazing. :D

I'm going to the library to figure out what I'll be reading for the next 2-3 weeks. I've already finished 3 books this year (though one of them was about 2/3rds through), but the point is I'm picking up speed and debating updating my goal for 2012 to reading 1 book a week for the entire year.

Hey! I haven't been on in so long, but I just switched jobs again so I thankfully have more time to read. God, I've missed it. I just devoured the Hunger Games in 2 and a half days. I'd love any recommendations you have for me to check out over the next few moths. :) I see American Gods is a favorite of yours, I've been considering reading it sooner rather than later. Hope all is well with you!!
