I love to read and I am always excited to learn about new books that someone else loved reading. I read a wide variety of books, but mostly fiction. I have way too many books on my wish list and it always seems to be getting longer no matter how many of them I read.

Hands down the best book I have ever read. I kept stopping as I would read another shockingly beautiful sentence or discovering another truth creeping up out of a deceivingly benign moment within the plot, to mentally go down a list of everyone I knew that I could tell about this book; To think of how I could explain to them the very real urgency and necesity of reading this book. Now. This very moment. Miss Santos- you have yet another undying fan and I am absolutely dying, waiting for your next book.

    ******** MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ************

Hmmm... well, I have been waiting for this book to come out for some time and now that I have read it, I have mixed feelings about it. This book definitely had a different tone to it than the others. One thing I always loved about the books was that all the crazy supernatural stuff that was revealed to Sookie throughout the books was processed with a great deal of humor and filtered through a relatable southern christian perspective. However, this book was much darker and wasn't balanced by humor. I feel like Sookie is becoming jaded by all the things happening around her and to her. Which, admittedly is understandable- no human could probably be that resilient after witnessing and being responsible for so much death. However, I am curious about the next book and how her personality will be affected by the traumatic events in this book. Torture?? I mean, that is dark stuff. Toward the end of the book, I wondered for the first time if this might be the last Sookie book because it really seemed like Sookie might actually die. And if Bill had been killed off, I think I would have thrown the book against the wall. I mean, I am 100% in the Eric fan club, and I don't want her to get back together with Bill, but she can't just kill him off! Claudine was difficult for me to take, but if Bill was dead too, it would be too much.

I agree with the other reviewers that it seemed like there was too much crammed into this book and because of that, we didn't get enough detail about everything and it seemed rushed and not well explained. What was the point in Quinn coming? Why bring up her nephew if she doesn't get to do anything? What the heck is going on with the FBI?! And after Niall popped into her life, she is never going to see him again now? What?!

Ahhh! When is the next book coming out for crying out loud?

I loved this book. I could identify with Christy's personal and spritual struggles. I wish there was a sequel.

I thought this book was wonderful, but I could see that Pullman could be going in a anti-God direction after a certain point in this book. The following books confirmed that suspicion in a big way. So, as a Christian, I would not recommend it to the impressionable minds of children, but they are really well written books.

I know these books are popular, but I prefer the sookie stackhouse books by far. I wasn't interested enough to read anymore in the series. And although this one was fairly pg-13, from what I read of the reviews, the series become untastfully sexually explicit in future books.

Essentially a harlequin-esque romance novel. No real historical or literary significance. Dissapointing.
