I love to read and I am always excited to learn about new books that someone else loved reading. I read a wide variety of books, but mostly fiction. I have way too many books on my wish list and it always seems to be getting longer no matter how many of them I read.

Thanks for the insight, Nicole! Laurel K. Hamilton's books are more intense or less than the Sookie Stackhouse Series?

Oh, I know - that poor kid! :D I'm sure the parents did their penance by having to check for monsters under "little Billy's" bed every night for a year.

In life, Elizabeth Adora Holland was known not only for her loveliness but also for her moral character, so it was fair ro assume that in the aferlife she would occupy a lofty seat with an especially good view. I love opening sentences that lead you on and that is how I came upon this book. I enjoyed it and had to read the next (like I said it leads you on) starting the 3rd this wknd -- very different from Marillier but a good story. Have you read a Great and Terrible Beauty from Libba Bray? This book put me in a similar time period but across the Atlantic.

    Navaho Prayer
    - May it be beautiful

Dark young pine, at the center of the earth originating,
    I have made your sacrifice.
    Whiteshell, turquoise, abalone beautiful,
Jet beautiful, fool's gold beautiful, blue pollen beautiful,
Reed pollen, pollen beautiful, your sacrifice I have made.
This day your child I have become, I say.

    Watch over me.
Hold your hand before me in protection.
Stand guard for me, speak in defense of me.
As I speak for you, speak for me.
May it be beautiful before me.
May it be beautiful behind me.
May it be beautiful below me.
May it be beautiful above me.
May it be beautiful all around me.

    I am restored in beauty.

    I am restored in beauty.

Sorry it took so long to write back. I really live in Dardenne Prairie, but since most people have never heard of it, I put O'Fallon as my city. I love living here, even though my friends and family think I live too far away! Why are you moving back to Wentzville? I think everyone from there probably never thought it would become such a popular place to be!

I guess the best way to descibe it currently is a historical fiction with a flare of romance.

Hi Nicole! You're the first person who has asked for my hand in Book-Friendship! I never thought to add some of my kids' books that I love! They're the ones I get to read the most! I look forward to actually reading MY books more often. Maybe Shelfari will motivate me!

Oh, don't tell my "Edgar" is slow! i just purchased it at Christmas. Haven't had a chance to start it yet with all the other stuff going on.

So, did you check out Play Book Tag? I am helping with the scoring of the new game. Plus once a member reads a book, I shelve it. We don't use the "Group Shelf" we actually have another profile. If you look under the administrators, you will see it. Click on that and it will take you to where all of our books are. You can see that each person has read & read their review of the book. And they are keeping my busy with "Chick lit" this month!!

Hi Nicole. Thanks so much for the friendship request. I posted a note to you about the Hollows series, Dead Witch Walking. I'm anxious to hear how you rate it to the Sookie series. As for the other two, ]i]Watership Down is a long book. And it has been years since I read it. As a matter of fact, I really need to do a re-read, but not this year!! And Whispers was the very fist Dean Koontz book that I read. If I tell you why I loved it/hated it/scared the bejeebas outta me, it might spoil it. It's another one that I would love to do a re-read on.

Why don't you join me over at Play Book Tag? It's a really fun group. Our tag for this month is Chick lit. I'm sure you can find something fun to read for it! We are also playing a game but it has already started, but if you want to get familiar with the group & join in the next time. We are always doing something interesting. Look for me, I'm one of the admins.

    Nice to meet you!

Holy frick, I did not notice it was a Whitman book, which I LOVE and own [not that one, another by him]. I just was all about the title--which is from his way famous poem. And yes, I do love poetry oh-so-much with all of my heart, especially Pablo Neruda and e.e.cummings...which, one day so help me you will love with all your heart too. I'm going to buy that book on Amazon ASAP! Good suggestion, yay! Oh, and the I Never Promised You a Rose Garden is truly one of the most stunning books ever. You'll love it.

Um, Nicole, we're kindred spirits. What do we NOT both like?!! And the answer to your question is yes, I do! I liked her first version of Beauty and the Beast better than her second [where he stays a beast...maybe it was because I was older, but that creeped me out a little] I also really like her take on the whole Sherwood Forest thing. I should read it again. It would definitely be a good cold day/warm tea book!

YAY!!! I knew you would get insta-addicted! It's like the merging of my two great loves: B/N and Facebook! Actually, the only thing that could make this better is if it had an attachment for shoes and purses and knee-high boots. Joy! How did you like that Leaves of Grass book? Would I want to read it?
