Avid lifetime reader. Covers a very broad spectrum: I'm more interested in the writing quality and new ideas/perspectives, than a particular genre..."anything that will blow my hair back" (paraphrasing _Good Will Hunting_).
I'm a huge advocate of Shelfari's concept, because most deep readers are islands, and would rather not be. I want Shelfari to have a successful equity event: it will help drive literacy and expand reading as a cultural priority. The current state of reading is a somewhat marginalized, and esoteric, activity. That is a shame, and should be fixed.
Enjoying the connection with other bibliophiles, the pure enjoyment of talking about books.
