I found lord of the rings a nightmare bcoz of all the names...must've took me about 2 years to read it...lol
Try some James Herriot...his books are real and funny...easy reading for out at yer forest getaway.
I have read 'The Lovely Bones' and it was sad, yet very compelling. It had an unusual slant and the book does linger in your mind. A good read.
:) I had to laugh when you said "surviving the Postal Asylum". I'm quite sure that's how Chinaski (Charles Bukowski) pretty much described his years there as well.
No not a mystery. More of a comedy, depending on your sense of humour. A very short synopsis: alcohol, the race track, and women... and his job at the P.O. :)
I'm liking this site Mary Ann.
Hi Mary Ann. Got your invite thanks. I just remembered another book I had read. Post Office, another by Charles Bukowski.
Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. There is a general explanation of the group under the discussion thread GROUP GUIDELINES. The books of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. I hope you will enjoy the group and perhaps join in one or more of the monthly reads. April’s BOTM are 1984 by Orwell, The English Patient by Ondaatje and Black Water by Oates. Hope you can join in one or all the discussions. We start picking the next months BOTM about the midway point of the month (April 15th). A group of books will be posted for your consideration.
