have you read any of dosteyevsky's books....he talks a lot about nihilism and rand seems to have picked up on that...."destruction justified if for a noble cause"....she does list him as an influence but denies any philosophical connection....

you seem like a major ayn rand fan.... i read fountainhead.. me bieng an architecture student ,it really did influence my work and me in a big way......then one day i picked up atlas shrugged and lo behold another story of a stoic, impassive group of people.... i stopped in realisation that rand is as ordinary as any one of us...a bit too ordinary...vain and pretentious even...

Reading off friends' bookshelves is what friends are for! :-) And as they say, all of us have books on our shelves, which we borrowed from friends..and never got around to returning! Only kidding :-)

Hi. Saw your response to my comment on Ayn Rand, and checked out your shelf. Interesting...I don't think I know too many people who would have Sybil, To Sir With Love and Ayn Rand sititng cheek by jowl on their shelf. :-) Glad to meet you Nayana.
