I really loved this book and got buried in the plot. I can't wait to read the sequel!

I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately it just didn't meet my expectations. The plot had potential, but unfortunately, it just didn't come through. The narration was confusing at times and I wasn't sure who was talking at some points in the book, or even where the story was taking place; it changed so quickly. The ideas were interesting but I just wish the author had developed them better.

A great finish to the series! It wasn't as sad as I thought it would be and Rowling does create a tidy finish to the story. I almost wish she would have left off the Epilogue; however, there is the open possibility that she could write a second series featuring the descendents of the Potters and Weasleys. Great book!

A good example of standard Lahriri fare with the same themes of immigration, interracial relationships, tension between husband and wife, infidelity and discovering one's heritage. I enjoyed the series of short stories, however the themes became somewhat repetetive and predictable and the last trilogy in the book seemed out of place. However, this was a good book and I'd recommend it to Lahiri fans.

I wasn't entirely impressed with this novel. Although it had promising sections in the book that made some connections between the food and the inspiration of the characters, it felt a little close to Like Water for Chocolate. Also, the plot fell flat for me at the end. We never really find out what happens to Layla and Malachy and the confrontation between Thomas and Bahar should have been more spectacular. I think the loose ends in the book just caught up with it. But, I liked the recipes included in the book, that was a unique idea!

A great book! I was suprised at the twist towards the end, but watched the relationship between Cannie and Dr. K build from day one. It was a very well written book and tackled some of the issues that most 'chic lit' books don't hit on. Great book, I'd recommend it and want to read more by Weiner.

Heartbreaking, but inspiring story of one child soldier from Sierra Leone who resettled in the U.S. This story teaches you that through love, patience and forgiveness anything is possible. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in African affairs and the plight of child soldiers. Also, read Dave Eggers' What is the What. A great read as well.

I loved this book! I read it in one sitting--I couldn't put it down. Heartbreaking and hopeful, this book lives up to it's reputation and then some! A wonderful insight into the ups and downs of a select few of the elite Saudi women in Riyadh.

A beautiful book of short stories from a fabulous author in Indian fiction. Lahiri is an amazing writer with the gift of powerful story-telling and rich description.
