I actually have 1400 books on my real bookshelf, but for starting this virtual one I'll just put the first and/or favorite ones that I've read for each writer I've got.
Half of my real collection is Golden age SF - Aldiss, Anderson, Asimov, Blish, Bradbury, Brunner, Clarke, Heinlein, Pohl, Silverberg and Van Vogt. But tthey are so easy to collect, mostly because they all wrote so many books and I just pick them up in second hand bookshops all the time but I haven't actually read most of them.
Mostly I like fantasy, even though it only accounts for about 25% of my collection.
I've got comic fantasy and comedy, namely Pratchett, Holt, Rankin and Douglas Adams.
Top writers
Anne McCaffrey
Terry Pratchett
John Wyndham
Mercedes Lackey
Ursula K Le Guin
Edmund Cooper
Robin Hobb
Lynn Flewelling
Clark Ashton Smith
My most expensive book was $240 (£140) It was A World of Difference by Edmund Cooper and it means I've got a complete collection of everything he worte.
