I'm a writer of short stories, poetry, reviews and articles. I work in the erotica, horror and crime genres. For as long as I've been a writer (8 years), I've also worked as a reviewer of books, e-books, websites and sex toys.http://www.hentracks.co.ukhttp://carriejanewhite.wordpress.com/

'll start with the admission that I write in the same genre, abandon my review if you suspect bias, but I assure you that I write these words in awe and envy of an author who is in a league of her own.

For me, Thurlow consumes the reader as no other author of contemporary erotica, deploying literary prose, which does nothing less than absorb from word one. Characters are furnished with appropriate given names that accurately describe the nuances of each without labouring over the minutia of appearance in the cliché trap into which many writers plunge.

Thurlow is a lone voice, pushing boundaries that others often avoid, this author isn't afraid to explore all aspects of sexuality, celebrating the joy of being a girl on the lifelong learning curve of her lust for the predatory and developing power over others, whether they be male or female.

Beautifully written, word-perfect prose sings off the page, compelling you to race ahead but at the same time, urging you to go back, turn around, retrace your steps, re-read, slowly absorbing the elegant, erotic description, stimulating, rich and oh so sexy.

Thurlow is a writer with longevity, and is one who will be here long after the bandwagon has rolled out of town.

2.5 stars. A rather workaday crime novel which suffers from extremely slow first and middle sections and curiously cluttered writing. I wasn't engaged with any of the three main characters (Holly, Ann or Chipper) who seemed very priggish indeed. The best thing about it was Ashley who is a veritable breath of fresh air when she turns up and everyone hates her! Really it should be Ashley's book, not the dull Holly's, and that would have been better, perhaps.

Red Phoenix, the prolific, multifaceted author of ‘Brie Learns the Art of Submission’ has produced a beautifully formatted, professionally edited fabulously packaged bumper series, nestled between an eye-catching, artistic cover sleeve. Brie, a wonderfully drawn, fully-rounded character, takes the perhaps unusual step of enrolling at a college offering tuition at the ‘Submissive Training Center’. Pheonix’s reader accompanies the main protagonist on her, sometimes painfully, awakening journey. Populated with super characters, among them antagonists who are so believable, your emotions are sure to take a ride which will make your heart beat a tattoo so loud it will deafen you. I bought these stories first individually as Ms Phoenix released and was lucky enough to be given the physical version as a gift last Christmas. It is a door-stop of a book, with a shiny, touchy feely cover, that, although racy isn’t out of place on your bookshelves.
If you enjoyed ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, which no doubt introduced millions to BDSM, you will not want to miss Brie’s epic journey, which is continued in the ‘After Graduation’ series.
