So, I haven't written on your shelfari notes section in foreeeeeeever.
What better time than the present? when I have two midterm essays due in the morn' :)
Let's see... I told you I would start reading Pride and Prejudice ten months ago (and I'm sure before that as well.) I haven't. It's like driving. I could crash and burn - i.e. I might not like it. Also... I think my expectations of it are too high (thanks to you good madame) and we all know how that ends up. So I'll have to do some mind games to make sure I don't expect brilliance.
I recently read Wuthering Heights which I loved so much. The characters were all delightfully gruesome and captivating. I saw it on the reading list for one of the classes offered here so I automatically switched from Studies in Romanticism to Studies in the English Novel. If there's anything going to get me to read it's a deadline. And I loved it so much! I don't know what I had expectationswise. Whenever ms. micheli would bring it up in class I would ignore here or cover my ears (i do remember the quote she always used for transcendence was "my love for Heathcliff is like the eternal rocks beneath"). I was expecting a stupid tragic love story so when it was so much more than that I was happy! you see what i'm saying?
Anyhow, what am I reading now? Really emo Holocaust novels, memoirs, and narratives. Not so much fun.
I brought like 30 books with me to UCSC in the fall and have read like 3 (including Wuthering Heights which I already had here so I didn't have to buy it lol.)
What I'm trying to say is I hate how I can never finish what I start readingwise!!! I just want to sit down and finish reading a book and feel accomplished. My last non school book was Coraline I think and that was a children's book!
There aren't enough hours in the day. But that's an excuse! So no more bitchassness! Must start on that D.E.A.R. time thing I mentioned before.
Hey ho, I'm barely 1/25 of the way through cause I'm slow and Dad decided to come over (he frolicked in the backyard again a little and started to sing songs from today's episode of Dr. Horrible... yeah) but from what I have read it is delights all around cause everyone is just a littlefaglittlebitch! So much funny!
What it do!!! I FINALLY FINISHED BLUE BLOODS!!!!! What has it been? 8 months?! It was pretty much awesome cause I read the excerpt from Masquerade and wanted to read it but now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice, which I will most likely take camping.
so I have a theory about the whole guilty pleasure thing which i heard from somewhere: Twilight is like eating Twinkies. Yes. Twinkies. So you eat a Twinkie when you are craving something really badly (SUGAR). If you want a gourmet pastry you know where to get it. But with a Twinkie you know what you want and why you're eating eat and know that you can't have too many. Some people may thing that Twinkies count as fine dining (cough) but we know it's a guilty pleasure. En fin: Edward is my Twinkie. And I will refer to him as so henceforth.
... I finished Eclipse... wtf? I really love the characters (even Bella to an extent) but as far as the story goes??? I hope something exciting happens in the next ones. What was with that epilogue? When does the next one come out lol. OMG I loved when they were in the tent!!!!! I lol'd so hard!!! Stupid Bella when she was all 'screw me Edward' I wanted to smack her. I still feel that these are the most anti-feminist pieces of literature I have read. For seriously. But I love them like cake. Sparkly, dazzling cake.
I have your New Moon Sarah gave me from Disneyland w/o the jacket but I don't have your Eclipse. I have your Blue Bloods and I'm going to read it as soon as I finish reading Eclipse which is what I was doing right now lol. I'll get them to you asap :)
