I have been teaching at MHS for eight years; I teach English 11 and 12 Standard as well as the new Book Club Elective. I earned my B.A. in English and Psychology at The Pennsylania State University and my M.Ed. at UMass Boston. Before becoming a teacher I worked as a social worker for a private nonprofit organization contracted with the Department of Retardation and as an ongoing social worker for the Department of Children and Families. I have had a life-long love of reading and my goal in creating the Book Club Elective and acquiring the Kindles for Kids grant is to share and spread that love of reading with students. In turn, I hope that through discussions in school and via Shelfari, this influence will spread beyond the borders of our classroom and into the greater student community. « less
