I am a school librarian and a reading enthusiast. I own a lot of books in physical and electronic format (thanks to my IPad). I always can find something interesting to read even if it is on the back of a cereal box. Check out some of my books, there is always something for everyone!

Chloe the dancer, Laura the teenager and now Allie Wright the adult. Three different names, three different lives, one person.

ANYTHING FOR HER takes a look at the effect of Witness Protection through a child’s eyes. Chloe Marr was only a child when her mother’s trial testament forever changes their lives. Gone is her dreams of being a dancer, gone is all she knew.

Now her life is Allie Wright. A successful owner of a quilt shop. A life that is forever changed when Nolan Radek brings in his foster son’s family quilt, hoping Allie can complete it.

From there, it’s a whirlwind of romance as Nolan falls fast and hard. But he soon discovers the difficulty of getting back into dating while trying to assure his new foster son, Sean, that he won’t abandon him.

Nolan and Allie fit so well together, both being artists in a way. I really loved them together. They were both two great adults that really got each other and didn’t play childish games. I enjoyed having Sean in the mix as it gave a more real feel. They mesh well and fall into a quick love that has the potential to last a lifetime.

Meanwhile Allie’s facing the guilt and anger of not being able to share exactly who she is to Nolan. With her mother layering guilt to keep her quiet, Nolan begins getting suspicious the more time they get together.

After hiring a PI and doing some research of his own, Nolan deduces that Allie is running from something, but gives her the chance to tell him the truth.

Finally she does and they both believe they have survived the toughest challenge….that is until the U.S. Marshall gets wind of the PI’s interest and they are threatened with another move.

Coming clean about the PI, Nolan fears he’s lost Allie when they fight over her choice to leave with her mother. Both finally realize they are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the other.

Determined safe, they get their happily ever after and more as family begins arriving for their wedding…including the brother she hasn’t seen in years.

I really loved AS TWIIGHT FALLS. Amanda Ashley is my favorite vampire author. I for one love the format she uses even if it’s predictable. The whole story line she uses of usually an old, lonely (although he won’t admit it) vampire finally falling for a human, struggling to get her to accept him, battling a rouge vampire or hunter and then facing the decision to save her life by turning her or letting her die always makes me swoon.

It’s the same format in AS TWILIGHT FALLS. Rylan Saintcrow as set up a utopia of sorts for the few vampires that sought refuge from him by starting a town where when humans stumble upon it, they can’t leave. Everything they could possible want is taken care of for them, except their freedom. They rule the town during the day, but at night they are expected to feed the vampires.

Kadie Andrews is a freelance writer and photographer. As she’s lost and running out of gas, she drives across the bridge that forever changes her life. Derrick Vaughan is quick to come to her aid at her arrival and sets her up for the night. Although he mentions not being able to leave, she doesn’t believe him.

The next day, she truly learns her fate from the other women. Not only is she trapped, but vampires are real and they are the cattle.

She doesn’t have too long with Derrick until the notorious master vampire Saintcrow takes her from him for himself. In his pov, it’s clear she will be his by the instant taking he has for her.

Things start out tense due to the captivity. Just like any hostage, Kadie doesn’t want to admit the attractiveness of Saintcrow nor how well he treats her, although he is mighty sure of himself when it comes to her submitting.

She bonds with the women of town and slowly works her way into changing Saintcrow’s ways. She convinces him to let a few go and never rests until he finally ends up letting all the vampires go and giving the humans the option of leaving as well.

Kadie brought out the best in Saintcrow, reminding him of his humanity that he’s resisted for so long. He really does care for her, yet they both hold back saying the words, even though he can hear them in her head.

With plans to England, Kadie convinces him to let her go home first. Her sister is sick and her notorious father for saving illnesses hasn’t been able to diagnose her yet.

Imagine Saintcrow’s surprise when he realizes Kadie’s father is a vampire hunter! It isn’t long before he’s plotting to off Saintcrow and Kadie is ready to flee to save him.

Saintcrow checks back with Morgan Creek after finding a fledgling from Lilith. Surprisingly he’s taken by one of the older women in town and they seem very happy together.

As the story comes to the last hoorah, Kadie is called back home over her sister’s steady decline. Although fearing it’s a trap, Kadie go with Saintcrow to follow later. She’s locked up and Saintcrow is ambushed.

Weakened and strapped to a table, Kadie’s father begins bleeding him dry. Calling out to Kadie, she contacts Micah, the new vampire for help.

Reaching Saintcrow, Micah and Kadie are escaping when her father pulls a gun, laced with vampire bullets, and shoots at Saintcrow, but Kadie jumps in the way.

With no other choice, Saintcrow takes her to their home and begs for her to stay long enough to give him her choice. She chooses him and wakes to her new life.

A little uneasy about it at first, it’s clear quickly that Kadie is a natural at being a vampire and these two will live happily ever after.

Overall, I liked the town entrapment idea. The struggle between accepting your fate because you were well taken care of or fighting for the life you lost was hard and real. It really showed when some didn’t go home once free because they had been gone so long, their life wasn’t waiting on them anymore.

Kadie had the same problem with Saintcrow. She kept asking for her freedom, but deep down she didn’t want it, just the ability to know she could if she wanted it. The romance between them was sweet and I really felt for Saintcrow.

I think it's all about head space, as in what's going on in your life when you delve into a book, and at any other time I might have found this book lacking in plot (because it is) and a little cheesy (because it is), but it's also peopled by characters both tough and tender, and there's that discovery of love at the heart of it, so it was an enjoyable if not particularly challenging read at the end of the day.
Sometimes it's nice to be entertained without having to work for it, though, so if that's your head space, then go ahead and enjoy this one as I did.

THE OTHER SIDE OF US was a really good book about first impressions, healing, and finding love when you least expected it.

I really enjoyed how the story started off. Everything wasn’t already in place. Instead we, the readers, find out alongside Oliver Barrett (Garrett? Back of book says Barrett, inside book says Garrett) as he discovered his wife’s infidelity. Needing to get away, he travels to his deceased aunt’s house to fix it up.

There, he meets his unruly neighbor Mackenzie Williams. He happens to catch her multiple times at the wrong moments, which only shines bad light on her social skills and attitude. To makes things worse, while he and Mackenzie get off on the wrong foot, their dogs take to one another instantly and find numerous ways to cross the fence.

Mackenzie is trying to get her life back. After a brutal accident while driving to a site as a top producer, she’s spent the months following rehab to push herself back into her old life. Unfortunately, the extent of her injuries seems to be winning and her boss appears to be giving away her job. You really just ached for Mackenzie. She had nobody in her life that stood by her side during her accident and now she faces life with body scars and limitations. It’s well written how she struggles.

As she tries to make up for her non to stellar friendliness to Oliver, they begin spending more and more time together, both noticing the attraction between them.

One thing I liked, that I normally don’t, was their ages. Both nearing forty, they weren’t into any games. The moving of the attraction to more physical one was something they both looked forward too, but also feared as they both had demons to face. That doesn’t mean they didn’t mess it up a few times! Another thing was the Australian base for the story. For once, being out of the USA didn’t affect the story.

The next hurdle they had to face was their quickly growing feelings. Oliver’s brother clearly calls out some important questions over whether his heart and brain was ready for a serious relationship.

Although Oliver thought the answer was yes, he’s proven wrong when Mackenzie’s ex-husband, and well known actor, suddenly makes a visit just hours after they promise to give ‘them’ a try.

Spending hours worrying about what was going on over at her house, Oliver realizes he’s not ready to blindly trust yet. Quickly packing and leaving a letter, he leaves in the night.

Although Mackenzie could once say there was a pull towards Patrick before, now she’s positive of her love for Oliver. Coming off a good talk with Patrick over the ending of their marriage, she learns Oliver left. Where she didn’t fight for her first marriage, she isn’t letting Oliver go.

Days of missing Mackenzie ends when she’s suddenly at his door. Promising to let him have all his fears and learn to trust again, Mackenzie isn’t losing him and he’s not strong enough to leave her twice.

Two years later, they’ve weathers pretty dark times, but have come through strong.

I really liked the story line with their dogs and the surprise at the end with the puppies!

    3.5 stars

This is a hard review to write. Although I really enjoyed the THOUGHTLESS trilogy, I felt a steady decline in the edginess that I found so captivating in THOUGHTLESS.

RECKLESS held a lot less petty relationship drama. Kellan and Kiera are firmly committed to each other and have worked out their issues that surrounded EFFORTLESS. Now they face an even bigger challenge…..manipulation from fame.

At first when Kiera joins Kellan on his tour things go great, but when Kellan and the D-Bags are signed with a record label, they learned manipulation is part of the game. Kiera wants to remain anonymous, which works fine until they bring in superstar Sienna. She and the label do anything possible to form a ‘convincing’ relationship between Sienna and Kellan. The media and mass attention seemed so real, it makes you wonder if that’s how it is in real life.

Dealing with the strain of everyone believing Kellan is with Sienna and Kellan not being able to fully tell about Kiera really presents a problem. I really felt Kiera was being silly trying to stay anonymous. I mean, you think you’ll stay unknown being Kellan’s wife? Why put off the invertible?

Once Kellan and Kiera decide to break their silence, the reaction as a domino effect. Some fans are happy finally getting the truth, while other fans hate on Kiera for breaking up Kellan and Sienna. The mob gets so out of control, they force Kiera into tripping, where she falls into oncoming traffic. Kellan takes the brunt of the hit by jumping in her way, but the force sends her crashing as well.

Recovering, Kiera and Kellan celebrate with their official wedding ceremony, not wanting to put off being officially man and wife any longer.

From there, everything falls into place. The public truth puts shame onto the label company and forces them to loosen their hold on the boys. Kiera’s book following the tale of her and Kellan’s relationship hits it big and the guy’ album scores and Denny takes over their management.

The night of their first Grammy’s award, Kiera takes away Kellan’s nerves with the announcement of her pregnancy. From the epilogue on, Kiera joins Kellan on tour while awaiting the birth of their son, baby Ryder.

With assurance that everyone got their happily ever after, the trilogy of Kellan Kyle and Kiera Allen is put to a rest.
