I became a reader at a very young age, playing library with my collection of Golden Books. But something special happened the first day of my Junior Year in HS. Each student received a box of brand new paperback books. That box of books was "the textbook" for the year. Good books, not the typical dry boring books we usually had to read for school. East of Eden, Grapes of Wrath, Red Bad of Courage, Black Boy, Catch 22, Scarlet Letter, Catcher In The Rye, and more. It felt like Christmas..I think that is the year my real love of reading began. Mr. Luce was that special kind of teacher that could just talk about a book and you were hooked. When he read to his class, it felt like a bedtime story. If only all teachers had the special talent that Mr. Luce had!
I love bookstores and libraries. I love to be around books. I love to feel books, smell books, and read books. If missing, I can usually be found in the bookstore at the mall.
I am never bored or lonely when I have a good book.
By the way, this is a picture of my precious lil' pug, Madeline! She is my baby. My boys are all grown up.
