    This is an awesome shelf. I teach 5th grade. So I am always looking for good books to recommend for students. Have you read any of Peter Sis. His books are amazing for in class reading. He has a lot of different cultural books and information books which are wonderfully illustrated.

    Excellent choices Mr Balcom. I am a mother of 4 children and many of the books I read to my children are on your shelf. What brought me to your page was a book we have in common: Sadako & The Thousand Paper Cranes! My brother introduced me to the book after I visited with him in Kyoto Japan and we spent a weekend in Hiroshima visiting the national peace gardens. My brother taught English in Koka Women's college which included gades K through 12 and 5 additional grades. When he passed away, many Japanese came to his funeral during one of the worst blizzards in SD in 25 years. Along with them, they brought not just 1000 but hundreds of thousands cranes to drape over his casket. It was amazing.
