    You can search it up on Google. Correlation does not imply causation. And Dubner/Levitt based their entire Roe v. Wade=Low Crime Rate theory on that logical fallacy. If correlation does imply causation, you could say that because a lot of firetrucks appear whenever there's fire, firetrucks cause fire. Which is clearly not true.

    Hey Ella, R. debunked the Freakonomics theory about Roe v. Wade and lower crime rates. He told me that Steven/Stephen's claim was all based on correlation, as in higher abortion rates correlated with lower crime. Causation does not imply correlation, however, so that entire chapter of the book is totally hogwash. What R. thinks is a far more likely factor, though, is that with the resurgence of the economy, people became more hopeful that they were going to get a job. Studies have shown that if you give anybody, especially criminals, something to do (e.g a job) they are far less likely to commit a crime. (Sociologists, not economists, should be dealing with these things)
