Books were a wonderful escape when I was growing up. I was lucky to find a best friend who had similar interests and we would spend hours together, silently reading our separate books.     Look at you go letting go of books! Good for you. It's kind of cathartic, yes? Well, at least until you want to read it again. :) My summer is going well -- we went camping a couple weeks ago by the river, but camping in Texas in the summer is just for idiots. It's frickin' hot! And down by the river, it's humid, too. Ugh. We're trying to go camping in August in Pennsylvania, but it may not happen. We'll see. All else is going well. We're all looking for jobs (in a desultory fashion) and just hanging out. Love right back at you!

    Hey Miss Mary,
    How're you doing? I ended up cutting it a bit. Now it is very curly. I had to do something since bad hair days outweighed good ones 4 to 1. I think though she wants to keep it long but with more curl which is what I want too.
    Crazy busy at work. I have 30 regerrals for testing! Noty sure how I'm going to manage it but oh well. That's the new me.
    How did you do with the fires? You and yours okay? Be well.

    Hey Mary,
    I'm the worst. You wrote me this long letter and I didn't respond in a timely manner. It's been a rough patch for me since we ended classes. I think I'm finally coming out of it, but some days ... I don't know. Anyway, I'll get to writing you tonight or tomorrow. Sometimes the hip drugs kick in and I don't make a lot of sense. Writing has been interesting, I can tell you.

    Well, looks like my first note didn't "go through" -- so I'm recreating my thoughts! I like the photo of you with kitty on the lap at the computer - some cats really like to do that -- it's because you are settled and doing stuff that appeals to their curiosity.

    I enjoyed looking at your shelf and I notice that you've read a lot of Tom Robbins -- I didn't realize that he wrote so many books -- I had Even Cowgirls Get the Blues on my list. Also Carl Hiaason -- what would be the best first book to read? Beauty Myth, Ancient Evenings and Women Who Run with Wolves are on my wish list.

    Miss you too. It's ben a quiet summer. I have a new hip. Six weeks recovery come Tuesday and I'm back to work tomorrow : ( I guess three months is the next milestone. I wish I could say I did a lot of reading. Pain meds tend to limit what you can attend to. I'm just getting back into the swing. What are you doing?
