I work part-time as a librarian and full time as a mom. I am always on the search for something excellent to read. I really enjoy bios, historical fiction, multicultural fiction and mysteries. My shelf is comprised of books I have read starting from 2002. The children's books are ones I like to use for storytime and outreach. I hope you... more »

I can't believe that you got to read that. I was in the Merrick Library last week and it was on the shelf and I tried to check it out but they wouldn't let me because my library is considered North Bellmore and that book could only be lent to a "Merrick Marvel" and I am not considered a marvel. Imagine that!!!!!.

    Hello and Happy New Year.
I just finished Houri by Mehrdad Balali and found it very interesting.
You should read it. It tells a compelling story of a family in Iran during the 60's -70's.
    Try it.

    Hey Stacie--
I miss you and our Thursday discussions, too. We could really have gone nuts over the lead up to Election day (not to mention the results)! Hope to see you soon, maybe a brunch sometime with some of your co-workers?? Take care!

It was not a book I would normally have been drawn to, but it was recommended to me. It is beautifully written and compelling and very unique and unusual. It is not a perfect book in my eyes...but I think worth reading. it is refreshing to read a book these days which is so original. If you read it, I would be interested in your opinion....especially the ending.

A question for you: how do you like being a librarian? I toy with the idea of getting an MLS....but I suppose there are not many jobs anymore as a librarian.

Ok...I'll keep Brooklyn on my "to read" list! I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge a year ago with my son on our visit.....First time...even though I grew up in Queens. Oakland is becoming a great place, blossoming, with great new restaurants. That's so cool that you are a librarian....I've thought of doing that too...but I'm sure there are a scarcity of jobs in that field now....you're lucky!

How did you like "Brooklyn?" I tried reading another book by him....and couldn't wade through it? Is Brooklyn worth sticking with? Thanks!

I just finished six suspects. It was very good and different. Some chapters were better than others, only because it was easier to follow.
