hi derrie,
I am feeling a lot better now. walking more outside round the garden and feel like I am getting somewhere at long last. I couldn't do all the exercises Andrew gave me so did the two I could and Tuesday he gave me two more to do as well. will see him again in a months time.
after looking really bedraggled after the winter chris's pansies are in full flower and looking lovely. my camellia is in flower too. kept missing it as I am back to looking at the floor where I am walking. can't use long white cane and walking stick at the same time.
lovely and sunny outside today.
lots of hugs from me to you
your friend Karen.
hi kerrie,
thank you so much for the picture of jessica and sofiah. sorry i have been so long in answering but i have been on a downer and could only manage to write reviews of the books i have listened to on the groups i belong to.
the appointment i should have gone to in march was cancelled because workmen wee there taking up the flooring to put new down. after some phone calls i got an appointment with a clinician a lot nearer my home. he said to use a walking stick, whcih the other one said i couldn't, and that the nerve pain i was suffering from was coming from my back. last week he checked my back, found where the pain was and gave me some excercises to do. he will phone me later this week because he wants a second opinion. i am hoping i will stay with him as the excercises are helping a lot because there is only a little nerve pain now. now i have a goal to achieve - to go with chris to the local shopping centre using the walking stick and keep resting along the way. he says it will take some time he doesn't know how long. now i'm back to being a happy bunny.
i said it wouldn't snow after march 15th, an inch of snow feel during the night a few days later. so much for that theory. ha ha.
at last spring has come, sun, rain and windy weather. chris has crocus and minature daffodils coming out in her planters. i am so pleased for her.
have you had any potential buyers for your house yet?
lots of hugs from me to you.
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
thank you so much for the picture of jessica and sofiah.
went to the foot and ankle clinic so now i have an appointment with nerve/management clinic later in march. jill has been to a pain management clinic and wasn't impressed. she said she was told "imagine a red balloon, then put the pain in it and let it float away." mmm. can't see that heiping.
nothing happening here of interest. i just keep listening to books. audible had some books for £5.99 so i bought about 20 and they were all from my wishlist.
i'm listening to the lies of locke larmora at the moment. its definitely different and so far its good.
lots of hugs from me to you
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
lovely news from you,a little girl sofiah. she will be nearly a week old now.
there isn't much happening my side. some more snow today after having a clear week so i could keep my dental appointment. got a taxi and it was so much easier for les and me. will do the same next time, not that i had much of a choice still can't walk very far. mind you the weather doesn't help. went outside yesterday because my clematis was in flower and i wanted to see it. lots of buds but no flowers. alan and janet had said there were flowers on it when they came but the strong wind must have blown them off. alan and janet had come to put bulbs in chris's planters. the pansies looked really bedraggled after the last lot of snow and are covered again. the sun is out at the moment so it may all melt away ha ha.
got an appointement at the foot and ankle clinic thursday so it depends on how much more snow comes between now and then if i go or not.
sorry not much to tell you.
lots of hugs from me to you.
your friend karen.
Congratulations! Always great to hear happy news!
I cannot beleive it has been a year since Bill died. I am glad you are moving forward while respecting his memory. Many people cannot do that. I hate all this cancer.Just seems like it is running rampant and unecessarily so. I am so happy abt your new grt grandchild! This is wonderful news! I am glad to hear you are reading more too,and the title does seem apt!
I am currently between "bugs", I am still resting alot after work. Taking minerals and boosting some of my vitamin levels ab bit. I eat pretty healthy but making even more effort. I will get thru this,it is just annoying and I am so exhausted from it all.I wish people would stay home when they are sick and stop spreading stuff.
I am in middle of Devils' Food Cake Murder (my valentine read) but think I may give it up.I am only par tway into it and already think I know how it will end. I just oicked up THE PRESIDENT AND THE ASSASSIN which is abt the McKinley Assassination whcih happened here in 1901.That is my President's Day read. I am into themes for now,but by April it will be all light, summer reads.
Stay well, think of you alot. Laurie
Kerrie, how sweet you are. All recoverable stuff, just the seasonal bugs and such, but each one right after the other.I am worn down. I can't wait for the sun to come out again! I will feel much better then! I haven't had flu yet,and doing best to not catch it. I am literally walking around with a canister of disinfectant wipes. I am not allowing anyone to come near me! Seriously. I don't want to be sick anymore. This has been going on since Mid Sept! I am in betweenbugs, viruses now and just resting and reading alot.
Thank you for the blessings.
How are you doing????
Laurie
hi kerrie
has your granddaughter had her baby yet. what is it - a boy or girl?
i know they can tell by scans now, they could when i had chris and jill but i wanted the surprise so i knitted the baby clothes is pale yellow or green.
as they grew up i used to knit cardigans and jumpers. the last time i knitted a cardigan for myself chris had to read the pattern for me. it was fairly simple - holes forming leaves. used to collect knitting patterns like i now collect books. ha.
we have had snow here. i don't remember all the fuss we are having now when i was young. mind you there wasn't as many cars then. we relied on public transport - buses or trams. walked a lot more too. now the children want door to door service, mum or dad doing the driving.
i am currently listening to jamrach's menagerie and enjoying it. i think its set in victorian times. chris has already read it and enjoyed it. it is fast paced, always something happening but chris says chapter 11 is a bit hard going. find out when i get there. i'm on chapter nine and the ship has got caught up in a tornado. the narrator reading the book is very good.
lots of hugs from me to you.
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
the blood tests came back normal and the anti-depressant he gave me is helping with the pain and sleeping. chris looked up the pill on the internet for me and found they are prescribed for pain now. the doctor thinks its trapped or damaged nerves i have got now. go back to the ankle and foot clinic next month. have had more blood taken to check vitamin d and calcium levels. go back in 2 weeks for the results as i have finished the course of vitamin d capsules she had prescribed.
i know christmas must have been a hard time for you without bill so i hope uou enjoyed it as much as you could.
thank you for the picture of lily. isn't she sweet.
how is the selling of your house going. have you sold it yet?
jill cooked christmas dinner for us. we had stir fried sprouts as the vegetable. jill doesn't like sprouts but liked them done this way.
i didn't welcome the new year in this time. i was fast asleep, the fireworks didn't wake me up either. shows how good the pills are.
i am hoping that these pills will enable me to walk further. will just have to wait and see. each time i have hopes of getting back to normal and have been disappointed. oh well never mind.
lots of hugs from me to you and lily.
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
happy new year!!
i have been to the doctors, he has given me meds and arranged blood tests i will write again when i have more news
your friend karen
hi kerrie,
just to let you know what's happening my end.
went to the foot and ankle clinic on the 13th more innersoles which made my shoes too tight so had to take them out. he wants more tests doing as he feels there is something else wrong as well as the rhumatsm he now says I have. i an getting tired very quickly now. i have an appointment at the doctors next week i will write again as soon as i can.
your friend karen
hi kerrie,
that's some going reading a book in 2 days. congratulations.
how's lily, doing well and keeping you on your toes? we bought my mum a scottie dog after my dad died to keep her company. i got married to les a month after dad died. she made friends taking scot for a walk through the woods.
i am starting to feel a lot better. ankles don't hurt as much so that's an improvement. got three good days last week but was in pain the following days. can think better too. was getting forgetful and weak. wouldn't have thought vitamin d could do so much. i am now sleeping a bit better too. got 5 more weeks of the pills and then will have another blood test. walking a bit outside too but i'm trying not to overdo it, don't want to go back to where i started again.
currently listening to the eyre affair by jasper fforde and enjoying it. les said it was good once you got your head round the fact its in a alternative time but still earth if you see what i mean. weird but good. after that it's the reversal by michael connelly, part of the lincoln lawyer series. bought some of the bosch series for les and he is loving them. i will get round to them eventually, about three years from now ha ha.
lots of hugs from me to you
uour friend karen.
hi kerrie,
boy am i getting through some books lately. will soon be up to my last years total of 86 not that it matters that much.
i have got the results from my x-ray. i have suspected osteoarthritis as i have excess bone growing at the front of my ankle. i have an appointment at the foot and ankle clinic in december. i kept telling them it was my bone not my muscles. the clinician didn't expect to find anything wrong on the x-ray. i feel vindicated. told him i was on vitamin d with calcium and vitamin d which did seem to help a bit. he said they woud take a long time to work. will know more when i see him.
lots of hugs.
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
so pleased you are enjoying the bible group and of course having lily. she must brighten you life up. it would be nice to have a person to person chat and a drink of course maybe a biscuit too.
i am only managing to walk inside the bungalow at the moment. i did try down to the bottom of our drive and back but found the ramp hard going. don't seem to have a lot of energy lately. doctor got the results of a blood test which showed i was very low on vitamin d so now i have tablets with d and calcium twice a day and alos a capsule to be taken once a week. she said needed to get vitamin d into me as fast as possible. apparently we get vitamin d from sunshine so as we have had a very poor summer and i haven't been able to get out and about its not really that surprising i'm low.
i'm hoping the tablets will make an improvement but have been told it will take some time so roll on christmas ha ha.
jill made me a coffee and pecan cake for my birthday a few weeks ago and i got vouchers for massage/reflexology from les and chris.
sorry i haven't much to tell you.
lots of hugs
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
thank you so much for the photos. loved the one on the porch.
lots of hugs
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
sorry i have taken so long in answering your note. needed the doctore to come out to see me again. she prescribed more pills but unfortunately i had a reaction to them. was prescribed more pills from the same group that was slow release together with somthing which should have prevented a reastion but it didn't so now i can't have NSAIDs.
she also made appintements for me to go to a foot and ankle clinic and have x rays done. went to them both this week. got innersoles for my shoes from the foot clinic which are supposed to help or cure it but at the moment don't seem to be doing very much apart from make it harder to walk. feels like i have a huge rock in each of my shoes. he did a scan but nothing showed up. i won't have any results from the x rays until the end of the month unless the doctors get them first and something shows up on them. i haven't got to walk very far, only inside the bungalow and the periphery. walking inside the bungalow and getting in taxi's is about as much as i can do at the moment.
are the peppers getting bigger now? please send a picture when they are ripe.
is the little sweater done now? have you started on anything else?
audible has had been selling books cheaper so guess who bought lots, yep me. got enough books to last for over 2 years with monthly credits to use as well. no fear of having nothing to read ha.
sorry about the double note - don't know what happened. must have pressed a wrong key.
lots of hugs from me to you
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
sorry about the delay in replying to your note. needed to doctor to come out to me again. she prescribed more pills but unfortunately i had a reaction to them. was prescribed another lot from the same group that was slow release together with something which should have prevented a reaction but it didn't. now i can't have
hi kerrie,
how are you? have you fiinished the little sweater yet?
i have been helping chris with the watering but haven't been to the tramstop for 2 weeks. accepted a bag with groceries in it from the delivery man and it was heavier than i thought it would be so ankles aren't very good again. wish they would hurry up and get better so i can go out and about again. les says it should be alright by now but i said as i have damaged it again it will take longer to get fully right.
i have been listening to heartstone which was a long book - 23 hours - and wanted to get it finished. now i'm on the haunting of hill house a ghost story which is a complete change from what i have been listening to. les says its good so i'll see what i think.
lots of hugs from me to you
your freind karen.
hi kerrie
how many banana peppers did you plant? only one survivor. well at least you will get a few peppers.
glad to see you are enjoying reading again.
had to laugh at you getting wet watering the plants with a hose pipe. watering cans can be just as bad. ha.
lots of hugs.
your friend karen.
hi kerrie,
the gardeners who come to do our garden came tuesday to put plants in the planters for chris to look after. she wanted to give gardening a try. the planters are made of wood and are on legs so chris can reach to do them in her powered wheelchair. they are lovely plants mainly violas, so bright and cheerful. there are some spring flowering bulbs to go in too but the gardeners (jean and alan) will put them in for her when they come back from holiday. we watered them between us last evening. i can help a bit with the watering but not the de-heading - thats chris's job.
glad you enjoyed the light romance and are also liking the murder mystery.
currently i am listening to a romance after shardlake. needed a break from murders. will be going back to shardlake after this books. heartstone is the last in the series so far. the writer has gone on to write other novels and is currently researching the next shardlake - thats according to rumours.
enjoy reading and knitting the little hooded sweater.
lots of hugs
your friend karen.
