a writer, a small publisher, a spoken word artist. My first literary loves were Nancy Drew mysteries and Donald Goines books. I am currently reading Tonight, I Give In by Mia A Moore.
UPCOMING SUBMISSIONS FOR SPEAKING ME:
Speaking Me, a Youth Anthology has exciting upcoming submissions for the following two anthologies:
Speaking Me: Volume 2, Youthful Words will be a celebratory collection of poems for young readers and parents. We are seeking poems that are exciting, interesting, and fun, from free verse poems to haikus, cinquains, and other short forms. We are looking for poems written about friendships, color, life, travelling, growing up, inspirations, nature, school, and other topics of your choice. Submissions will need to be clean and free of any non appropriate language, as this collection will be specifically placed in school libraries, universities, and schools. Parental consent is apart of the process once the poems are accepted so we will need parents to sign a consent form to allow us to publish the work of any selected young poets. Ages recommended for submissions: Between 5yrs old - 10 years old.
Speaking Me, Volume 3, The Light In My Soul will be a spiritual collection of poems, prose, and short stories about a teen's spiritual life. We are looking for poems, prose or short stories for teens (by teens)... between the ages of 12 - 18, about trials, overcoming obstacles, family and personal strife, empowerment, and uplifting God in all their experiences as young people in Christ. We are looking for original material from the teens. Submissions start on Fall 2008 and will close in December 2008.
Upcoming in Late 2008
Speakng Me, Volume 4, I Am Still Here will be a collection of poems, prose, memoirs and stories written by incarcerated young women and men between the ages of 20 - 45 years old. We will be looking for work written that highlights the struggle, the strife and redemption of our young brothers and sisters who may have been locked up but still have words burning in their souls and stories to tell and share with us. The material we select will be highlighting the journey of lives of those who may have felt voiceless but still have a voice to contribute to us all. Submissions start on Sepember 5, 2008 and end in Early January 2009.
Submission process:
Submit poems or material by sending material as attached Word, Word Perfect or Rich Text Files. Submissions are limited up to 3 poems per entrant or 1 short story per writer. Material that is submitted will be read and selected and announced by our timelines that will be announced. Each entrant will receive notification of acceptance after the poems for each collection has been selected.
We appreciate your support of our literary efforts here! All Submissions should be sent to : osbeybooks@sbcglobal.net with subject line: Speaking Me, Volume 2 (or other applicable Volume Number or Title of Collection).
