As a single black woman in the church this book was a tell all book. It was a story which needed to be told. I felt for the characters and understood their pain. I loved this book.

I loved this book...it was great how the author showed all sides to how a father's absence could affect men as individuals and their life. It shows how important a father is to a family unit.

this is a serious book... the stories are so strong and heartbreaking...I applause Zane on her insight on domestic violence in the black community...a black woman is beaten or killed and it's like the world is silent. we do matter and we do have feeling and we need help. Zane painted pictures which I had a hard time forgetting.

I love J California Cooper...this was the first book I ever read by her and from that point on I was hooked This book shows through all we as black women go through we are still beautiful strong women. When you think about how many black women were raped back then and to think to stop the pain they committed suicide and my heart was broken. Not because of the suicide but because of the pain they suffered. I love how the main charater Always overcame and lived her life.
