This book presents religious material in a refreshing, thought provoking, humorous and enlightening style. Think of the song, what if god were one of us! You want to own this book just to highlight, add thoughts and revisit.

  • Towelhead: A Novel

I heard it has been made into a movie, that's what made me pick it up. A CHILD who is being sexually abused may act out sexually, but I felt the author was laying too much blame on Jasira's own sexuality (pre-abuse). Perhaps she was trying to show it from the perpetrator(s) view-it didn't come across that way.

I like that this author allowed is to know her characters before throwing in ethnicity. There was enough diversity and rich characters to keep me going right up to the end, and of course I fell in love with Hannah too!

Too bad he can't change it up a bit. If you read one, it seems they are all the same.

  • Miss Spitfire: Reaching Helen Keller (Unabridged)
    • Rated 4 stars

Helen Keller was a favorite of mine as a youth. From Annie Sullivan we learn what it was like in bringing Helen out of the darkness of being deaf and blind, to the gift of language, feelings and communication to Helen, all from Annie's view. Recommend for ya and adults alike.

Editorial Review She thought she left her darkest nightmare worlds away in the Australian outback. Now, terror will push her to the edge.... Shut down by the grief of losing the man she loved, Tally Nowata has come home to pursue the search-and-rescue work that is her passion. When a crank phone call leads Tally and a friend to the top of a treacherous peak, it is the start of a violent game that will force Tally not only to the heights of danger in Wyoming's Grand Tetons, but to the brink of sanity in a race to the death. A lethal predator is closing in on Tally. He's dead set on revenge -- and he's targeted the one thing Tally can't survive without: her child. Hannah Nyala, the real-life tracker who introduced Tally Nowata in the electrifying novel Leave No Trace, brilliantly defines a woman's determination to embrace life after her spirit is shattered -- and crafts a nail-biting chase across a hazardous landscape, where no one can rescue the rescuer.

Open your mind, be in the moment and listen to the stories. See where your memories bring you to. Not only does this book bring me an understanding of indigenous peoples, there are also many life lessons (we have lost) from traditional stories, to hear and learn of our ancestors that can give you nature, the animal spirits and the earths voice. My grasp of the spirit world is peripheral, I can almost touch what is revealed in the myths and the way of nature itself. The Quantum Physics tie in is very cool. This is an amazing book.
