Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,

I saw you didn't really like The Wind-Up Girl; it wasn't one of my favorites either.
I read The Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult this week; it was my first book by her. Curious about what you think of Sing You Home, I am thinking about reading that one as my next book by her.

Thanks, I will pass on it for now. If it is ok, I would like to borrow your Matthew Henson book again to read this month (January 2010). Happy New Year!

I finished Earth Democracy and will pass on to Mona; I didn't think it was the easiest read. Also, I saw Betty H. a couple days ago. She suggested The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kathleen Jacobs as a happy book. Have you read that? Maybe I'll suggest it for October.

I did what you said and read the discussion questions and decided to read it. It was ok, I enjoyed it more once I realized the story was about the events leading up to the Wedding night and not only the Wedding night itself.

I didn't finish Chesil Beach. I read about 20 or 30 pages on vacation and couldn't read anymore. I found it depressing. Should I give it another chance?

Hi, how goes it? Is your Broads book group still going strong? It sounded like such a fun group when you told us about it at our lunch last summer.

The Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group recently hit 100 members, so we're kicking off a 100-Member Celebration! Details are available on the group site. Hint: It involves a drawing for some gift certificates, and participation is required in order to be eligible for the drawing :-) Come celebrate with us!

Also, we've announced that our summer group read will be Leif Enger's newest book: So Brave, Young and Handsome. I'm reading this book right now and will have the discussion thread up by next week. The thread will be available for discussion this entire summer.

You will love Stones from the River...also Eat, Pray, Love. We read the later last year in our club. We just finished Three Cups of Tea. I was rather bored with it. We read Peace Like a River...FAB book...we all loved it. I have Edgar Sawtelle...started it but then put it down. Didn't grab my interest from the git go, but didn't give it much of a chance. Will give it another try after 3 Day Road...haunting is a GREAT word to describe the book. Will finish it tonight. We are reading Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner for next month. How do the Broads select your books? Do you have a methodology? We need something desperately. We have a rather forceful woman in the group and if I'm not there to help balance her, we end up with some weird suggestions. We need a methodology that everyone can agree on. I am open to suggestions! Pups are good...one is aged, but his quality of life isn't compromised yet, so we're hanging in there. It's a gorgeous evening...off to walk the pups. Good to hear from you. Miss the dialogue.
