Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. There is a general explanation of the group under the discussion thread Group guidelines. The books of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. I hope you will enjoy the group and perhaps join in one or more of the monthly reads. Our March books have been chosen and they are #1 is The Unfortunate Traveller by Thomas Nashe This book was first published in 1594 and can be found in the public domain. # 2 is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, #3 would be Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. We will start choosing April’s book about mid March.

Hello Margaret, How are you doing. I noticed your icon about acrylic painting. I'm taking a class about pet painting at LVS. I'm still a learner at digital painting. This semester I'm taking 5 courses between LVS and VU. I donate my books to a senior co-op when I finish them. I would love a Kindle, but I have a stack in my to be read bookcase. A few months ago, Joe said "You'll have to clean out that bookcase, it's over run with books" I told him that's why they are called "bookcases."

I know. It's so expensive but it's such a great toy. I feel I need one. I guess I need to go rustle up a few more paying clients :)

Great - thanks! I put the Art of Detection and Night Work in my Amazon cart. Just out of curiousity - have you looked at or do you have a Kindle?? I LOVE books - the paper, etc. but I feel like the Kindle is such a green thing to do. Plus - I read so much and I have no place to put the books. I donate them to a local community co-op type bookstore which is fine but there's the tree thing :) Anyway - just wondering. Hope you're having a good weekend.

Hey Margaret -- Should I read Art of Deception or do I need to go back to the beginning of the series? Will I get it as stand-alone?

Sorry to hear about the "color commentary" you had to sit through :(

    Hello Margaret,
Thank you for suggesting facingourrisk.org. I did join up.
I have a wonderful husband, who unlike my dog, is not a cuddler. My dog Joey is a mixed breed, about 38 pounds. For relaxing, a book and cuddling with my pup is the winning combination. I read mostly mysteries. Mary J

Margaret--have you read Dan Jenkins' book about golf titled Dead Solid Perfect? He's the same guy who wrote Semi Tough. Looks like he does a bunch of sports related books.

I just love, love, Tales of the City. I've read them over and over. I was like you too when I read them -- couldn't wait to get to the next one. I don't know what I would have done if I had read them as they were being published! BTW: Eric was an amazing book. I forgot all about it. Thanks for adding it.

Hey Margaret. I would almost think you are a cat lover from all the Rita Mae Brown books! I love the picture of you and your puppies. Sometimes my animals are my saviors. A snuggle in the lap or a big wet doggie kiss can be good medicine!-- When I first saw your book How to Break 90, I thought it might be a FORCE selection! I hope to break 90--years!
