Reading for me is a past time and an escape. Though I read many genres, paranormal romance is my favorite. I don't read much non-fiction.

This book was pretty good, though it was a departure from the first three books. I thought the others were light and fluffy reads. This one was a lot darker. I thought Torrie and Qaade made a great team, but were not convincing as lovers. That sexual spark was missing in their relationship. Torrie was a bit of a spoiled princess, but boy did she get an eye opening experience with the life Qaade led. His mission was to rescue slaves from their slavers. Qaade wanted to be the one in control of everything, but he had to learn the hard way that it was okay to have help from others. There were a few times I got teary-eyed and I was really rooting for Torrie and Qaade to come through to save the day. I'm a bit disappointed that there are no others in this series.

Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and I felt that Crystal was very inconsistent. She's a naive virgin one minute and a complete wanton the next. Soren acted too caveman like for me. I thought the plot was silly too. 2.5 stars

  • Unleashed (Futuristic Romance)
    • Rated 4 stars

Unleashed was a cute and sweet romance. I really liked Lacey and Zain; they were really good for each other. I admired Lacey's tenacity. She was in a situation many would falter in, but she stuck to her guns and wanted to be the decider of her fate. She made some bad decisions in her past and wouldn't let Zain make them for her. Zain was a lonely explorer and suffered because of the death of his partner. Lacey made him realize that maybe he wanted something more for himself. The ending was a nice surprise and left me with a smile on my face.

This was a cute romance. I enjoyed how Lyssa discovered her sexuality after the emotional abuse she suffered from her marriage. I thought Robert was the perfect partner for her. 3.5 stars

The plot was a bit far-fetched and I wish Eve was a little more supportive when Roarke's family came for the holidays. 3.5 stars

  • Unraveled
    • Rated 3 stars

Unraveled was OK. It started off fine, but Rayce's prejudice against the Majj got old fast. Tru was a nice heroine who grew as the story progressed. They were cute together, but I thought their romance was a bit sappy. This story wasn't as entertaining as Unearthed.

I was really looking forward to Blood Promise, but it didn't live up to my expectations. I'm not sure how I thought the book would resolve the issues from the last one, but this wasn't it. It was very slow going and boring throughout most of the book. There were some new elements to the story that were interesting, however. I admired Rose's resolve in Shadow Kiss, but she faltered somewhat in her search for Dimitri. I kind of understand why things went down the way they did, but it was disappointing nonetheless. I'll probably read the next one in the series, but I'm not anticipating it's release.

This was a very sweet romance. Jacinda and Billy were perfect together and their feelings for each other were 100% genuine. I liked it. 3.5 stars

  • Ashes of Midnight
    • Rated 1 stars

After finishing Veil of Midnight and thoroughly enjoying it, I was looking forward to reading Ashes of Midnight. However, I thought it was astoundingly bad. It was so bad, that I consider it to be the worst book I've finished so far this year. There was no saving grace to this story at all. Claire had to be dumbest person alive. The things she said and did were absolutely ridiculous. I mean, seriously, her mate had everyone in Andrea's Darkhaven murdered and she couldn't seem to grasp why he might want revenge. I'm sad to say that Andreas wasn't much better. He was so consumed by his rage, he couldn't see anything else. Their romance was anemic and there was way too much angst going on, especially concerning Andrea's ability. The storyline did progress, but I stopped caring. I highly doubt I will continue with this series as I no longer have any interest in what happens in Adrian's world. 1.5 stars
