How's "The Alchemist"? I've been curious about that one.

    Hi Misty,
I did enjoy the book, but found it a bit predictable. It was an easy read about a lasting friendship. Not much depth to it, though. For me, it was another story dealing with cancer at a time when I just lost my brother to cancer. I just didn't enjoy reading about all those things after just going through it.

I do read a lot of Jodi but once I read of hers I was hooked. The one I am reading now was a little hard to get into, but once you get about half way through it is great! I think one of the best ones ever by her was Nineteen minutes. And I will let you know, if you dont know, Lifetime is going to be making a movie of My Sister's Keeper!

I have heard his books are good, but i am not into suspense of any kind. I always read before bed and I want to be able to sleep! :-)

I am also a Christian! I found it difficult to get through the parts where his daughter disappeared and imagining his grief. It really did make me think though, so it was worth it. For example, I want to pray because I want to talk to my friend rather than out of habit. I have given at lease 8 copies as gifts and have loaned my copy out a number of times!

I found The Shack very interesting. It made me think about the way I think about God. I also had to think about why I do the religious things I do. There were a lot of thought provoking things in there. I see you rated it 4 stars. I see we have a few books in common!

I really enjoyed it. It helped me better understand the way an autistic person might think. I re-read it again recently. I didn't enjoy it as much the second time but it was still good. I would give it another try.

I loved The Secret Life of Bees. Is The Mermaid Chair as good?
