“Ethan falls in love with a witch Lena and he must save her from going Dark. Lena is so scared though out the book but in the end she stands up Mrs. Linken/the Witch. Love the story, characters setting (Its been years since I read a good witch book!) Ridely has to be my favorite character she's so bad *** in a sort of cute 'you have to love me" way.
Basically the story is that Lena is from a family of witches (casters) who's females are cursed on their 16th birthday into either being Chosen as Dark or Light casters. They each have a special set of powers (Lena happens to be a Natural which means she can control the elements), Ridely can influence people's thoughts etc. It is told in third person from Ethan's POV which is a nice change from the majority of first person books i've been reading and also because its focuses more on what happens in Lena's life then what happens in Ethans (although he's in love with her)
I like how Lena was so different from everyone in Gatlin and how she just wanted to fit in. The Winter Formal reminds me of Carrie because of Lena getting the snow poured on her (like Carrie gets made fun of and the pig blood gets dumped on her head) I think the only scene I"m still confused about is the shattered window. I don't really get why Lena got angry and shattered it. ”
