The world is not as just, not as loving, not as whole as we know it can and should be. But the coming of CHRIST and his presence among us—as one of us—give us reason to live in hope: that light will shatter the darkness, that we can be liberated from our fears and prejudices, that we are never alone or abandoned. God sent JESUS not just to save us, God came down so He could forever be with us *You are a friend of God ~ Merry Christmas*

haha yeah. I too have read on my shelf that I haven't read yet that could last me more than a year; but alas, I buy more. And it's not that those books I already have won't be good. In fact, I know they will be very good! Some are just easier reads than others, and currently when I have free time I'd rather read an easy-read book. :-)

Awesome. I wish I could read more of the books that I want to, but I am busy with school and the required reading of those classes so I don't have time to focus on my to-read list. But it's all good. I'm really enjoying "Son of Hamas" right now. I'm trying to make time to read at least one book that I want amidst the business of school.

Hey. I'm doing good. :-) Busy! I'm taking summer classes to take care of some gen eds. They're much cheaper at a community college!

I know what you mean. I need to stop farming. That is too time consuming and I don't enjoy it that much anymore. Have you started to write your book yet?

Hello, Annette. I’m the author of The Sandal Maker, a new book about a journey of an elderly Jewish man and his daughter with glimpses into the public ministry of Jesus from a unique point of view. It’s a story that will take you on a fascinating journey in first century Galilee. You can read reviews at Amazon.com. I’m including here the publisher's notes. Let me know what you think.

    Book Description:
In 70 A.D., a father and daughter risk their lives traveling through a war torn, Galilean countryside on a mission to reach Jerusalem, a fascinating journey that will change their destinies forever. Caleb, an elderly Jew, leaves the safety of his home in Cana on a mission to find a man he believes is in Jerusalem. Miriam, Caleb's only remaining child, accompanies him disguised as a boy. In the desolation of the war struck Galilean countryside, father and daughter risk their lives to journey south on the Jordan River trail. As they walk, Caleb intrigues Miriam with a captivating story of his youth that will change her future destiny. A story of a time forty years prior when he became a sandal maker in order to observe a man some called the Miracle Worker. Caleb secretly kept notes of the events he saw and heard as he followed the crowds. With his objective, skeptical point of view, he reveals the fascinating ministry of the one he called the "Master." Heart pounding perils and the threat of death endanger the two travelers, but nothing could foretell the fate awaiting them in Jerusalem!

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. ~Dr. Seuss

Merry Christmas to you. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. This is the first Christmas I'm excited about the present hubby is getting for me. He's getting me a Wii Fit. Boy do I need it. At Thanksgiving we all did the Wii Fit real age test. Mine was 75 and Mama's was 83. I told her that was why we are such great friends, we're the same age. I hope to see improvement in a year. Doylene

Hi Annette. I see you are a member of the 100 Best Modern Novels Group here. Not much going on there, I see. Still, that is a great list to choose selections from...I was hoping that it would be a serious group reading and discussing from the list; but there are all sorts of other books on the group shelf - not from the group. Discouraging, I thought....Any thoughts on what is going on there?

    Happy Independence Day!

I really enjoyed that one myself. I enjoy listening to him preach as well, he is very easy to listen to. He doesn't play with scripture, so when he makes a theological point it is thought out and documented and overall he is very very credible

    Annette:

"In Cold Blood" is my favorite, but all his short stories plus "Breakfast At Tiffany's" are delightful.
I especially liked the Christmas stories, all about his family Christmases in the country. Very unique experiences for a young boy....

    Good to hear from you,
