I don't think I've ever really grown up, and it shows in my reading. I still like to read fairy tales and children's classic books more than the more serious bestsellers. Although I do delve into the occasional popular paperback every now and then, it's usually with a little nudge via glowing recommendations from friends. For example, I wouldn't have touched the Da Vinci Code had my boyfriend not excitedly related to me the gist of the plot. Actually, a lot of my bookshelf has been acquired and read after a bit of motivation from people.

In high school, I went through this "romance novel" phase, which explains the number of McNaughts and Lindsays in my collection. I'm such a hopeless romantic. Even now, when I've outgrown McNaught and Lindsay, I find myself longing for a less racy, still emotional, giddy-goosebump-inducing read. At the moment, I've developed a teensy weensy obsession with Darcy of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I hope this means I've progressed from those romance heroes that looked like Fabio... unless I've regressed? After all, isn't Darcy supposed to be the grandfather of the romantic hero?

I don't really have much in my current reading list. (I've been meaning to collect all the unofficial sequels and fanfiction versions of P&P, but some of them aren't distributed here.) If anyone has any recommendations, they'd be most welcome. ^_^ « less
