Hi Readers:
When I was a kid I loved reading adventure tales like Tarzan, The Three Musketeers, Treasure Island, Typee, and similar works.
As an adult, I enjoy modern adventure writers with a foothold in history such as George MacDonald Fraser, Cecilia Holland, Patrick O'Brian and Bernard Cornwell, to name a few.
I also avidly read mysteries, detective stories and fun books with quirky plots and have greatly enjoyed the fiction of Robert B. Parker, Elmore Leonard and Carl Hiaasen.
As for serious literary fiction, I can't even begin to mention the authors that I've read and who have influenced my writing. There are simply too many!
Of course, these lists are not exhaustive and I can't possibly pretend to be in such august ranks. I only mention these books and authors so you can get a taste of where I come from and where I am going with my writing.
DRAKE'S COFFIN and IRONSIDES' PERIL are the first two novels a planned series of several thrilling adventures featuring former U.S. Attorney, wealthy philanthropist, and gutty adventurer, Zach Colt.
I was born outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Now I live in New England with my wife, daughter and Portuguese Water Dog (who happens to have the same grandfather as Bo Obama).
For over a decade I lived and traveled throughout Central America.
I have worked in federal law enforcement both in the States and overseas.
Most recently I have been a trial lawyer in private practice.
And yes, I did dive in search of Sir Francis Drake's lead coffin, which has been resting for over 400 years somewhere on the ocean floor near the entrance to Portobelo Harbor, Panama.
I haven't found it -- yet.
Mike
