Lot's of really great tips for programmers, covering several areas, including: automating as much as possible, DRY (don't repeat yourself), testing and so much more. I've been programming for a while but this book is challenging me to think about some things in a new way.

I really enjoyed this book. I know the author so that might make me a bit biased. I thought this was a great story and was very engaged reading through it. I love the way the spiritual realm is presented in this book. A couple mildly cheesy parts, but I really enjoyed it.
Note: I actually have the PDF e-book, not the Kindle version. The author's site is at www.rrmccoy.com.

Design software by thinking like an object. A thought-provoking book that challenges many common OOP and formal practices which have diverged from the original intent of OOP according to the author. A lot of theory and philosophy with some useful, practical suggestions toward the end. Object Thinking discusses some of the object philosophies taken for granted by XP and Agile practices.

This is the book that got me really into Virtual Reality (VR). It introduces VR and contains several projects and software which enabled readers to experience VR on a low budget. This book is out-of-date now, but it was significant at the time (1994).

A good book on object-oriented programming with business objects. Ties to Rockford Lhotka's CSLA.NET framework, but contains good principles even without using the framework.

A good, practical example of Test-Driven Development with a nice overview of common patterns at the end.
