Hello, my name is Melissa and I am ADDICTED TO READING!!! Reading to me is sort of like eating and breathing... I MUST DO IT!

I enjoy reading novels - i.e.: womens fiction, historical fiction, action/adventure, romance, paranormal romance, etc. I also try to get some classic literature into the mix whenever I can. I especially enjoy... more »

    Hi,

I see you like historical romances too. If you're interested, check out my historical romance group. Among other things, I have a "quizzes" post and an "Upcoming Releases" post.

Going back to school id definite work but the outcome is only for the best. I keep telling myself that! I'm so close to the finish line if I didn't finish it would all be for nothing. Sometimes its wierd to see the immaturity of younger people who are spending parents money and not taking it seriously because the just don't have life expierence of struggling to appreciate it.

    Hey Melissa,

As you can tell I'm not on her as much. I went back to school myself and its cut into my reading time. LOL! Its better you retain them young than older. I retain my son in 2nd but we had moved so it didn't effect him too much with peers teasing him. Yeah, MELTING is something I understand about not that I live in TX.

Yes, I read them out of order. My sister was into Anne Rice and sent me her books and I skipped around reading them only to realize there was an order! Duh! But I still loved them all. Its very intresting the "Taltos"..although birthing them is a bummer! LOL! My family is good, TX is HOT as heck but we adjusted well enough. How is your son doing? I'm glad to hear from you again! Hugs!

after reading your profile, I think you'd like "Cat's Eye" by Margaret Atwood. Many women I know think that it's Atwood's best.

I know I'm eighteen months late, but I just read you review comments of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. I whole-heartedly agree with each thought, clear on down to the difficulty of reading the archaic English. I have the same problem with Jane Austen and all the other British Classics of that time frame. Especially Tom Jones-History of a Foundling...it was great once I machete'ed my way through all the Lawyerese of 1750.

    Oooo ... tough.
The Onion Girl perhaps ... or Widdershins.
He's built this incredible world that most of his characters inhabit.
They sometimes do and sometimes don't know each other.
They make me feel like I'm in a waking dream.
I can't recall which book is the first book.
    They're not quite a series.
He has an odd way of writing where each chapter feels like a short story.
As you go further into the book, you realize that they are interrelated.

You might also try Nina Kiriki Hoffman.
If you can find a copy (and it's tough to), I'd recommend The Thread That Binds the Bones.
Again, she's built her own world that her characters all inhabit but it's not a series.

She has a unique writing voice that I really enjoy.
For some reason, I sometimes also think of Charles deLint when I think of her.
