Yes; it totally started slow for me. I can't remember how long it took me to get really into it, but once i did, I loved it.

Hey. Do you own Burrough's Dry? If so, can I borrow it? I've been trying to buy it for months and can't find it anywhere.

Just checking out books you've added recently. I was thinking today about Pride and Prejudice, shall we add to CCBC? I love the Amy Sedaris hospitality book. I've been wanting one! Have you read anyones?

I caught up on my reading last night, 80 pages to go! I recommend 1984. It is frightening and so advanced for it's time. Jeff and I watched The Lives of Others which was so perfect to watch while reading this one. I first thought I was just wrapped up in the book and was creating similarities but nope, many parallels.

I got the package...or at least a note saying they attempted delivery. The date on the slip is 5/29. It must have been placed in a neighbor's box. I'm going to swing by on Saturday, since I'm already on the train then they open in the mornings. I'm happy!!!! I should give you my work address to avoid this drama!

    Kisses!

It's a journal belonging to Raymond Maufrais, a distant relative of mine I'm guessing from France since there are only a few of us. At the age of 20 in the early 50's he set out in French Guiana going deep into the jungle that had never been explored before. It's an amazing story of someone trying to survive and the emotional impact of starvation, injury and solitude. He was never found but his belongings were. They found his camera, journal and other items. His father published the journal to help fund his search for his son.

Yeah, the book is tough to find. I got mine off ebay from some rare book seller. I'm going to pass it along to family but will send it your way once I get it back.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend my dear!

Cool. I'm going to be sending some books your way soon, but not for the CCBC. I'm excited to get this going. The book I'm ready now is taking some time because I'm constanly looking up jungle animals mentioned that I've never heard of. I have a TALL stack of "to be read" at home, I'm excited about adding more and sharing the read with you two ladies! I also need to spend some time on here adding more books, it's been aa while.

I REALLY liked In Cold Blood. I especially loved one paragraph in particular where he was building up towards the description of the all the towns people congregating around the courthouse. Excellent!

Sorry I had to cut you off yeserday, but want to hear more about your thoughts....

So what book are we going to read together and have an "across the nation book club"? I'll be sending you some books soon.

Not so much. In fact, when I decided to read The Road (same author) I was concerned I wouldn't like it because of my experience with All the Pretty Horses. So glad I reconsidered. It's been a long time since I've read it, so I should probably revisit it, but I recall finding it slow, boring, and generally tedious. Exactly the opposite of The Road.
