Hey! hello! how are you? :)
I thought i'd leave you a message here :D i apologize, it might take me sometime to send you a letter. I'm kind of a moody person - if i forgot to tell :P and these days i'm having such weird moods.
speaking of moody people, i'm reading a book "the yellow house, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and 9 turbulent weeks in Arles" Ever heard of it? it's a very "smooth" read. plus, this Van Gogh was eccentric and that makes you think, why can't me - or you - or anyone - behave as he wants? for ex., he used to walk with a straw hat, and Gauguin dressed a seaman - in the prairies. Artists who were not afraid of what people say. We're living in the dictatorship of the "standards".

I know I'm in the minority. I tried to read it a few years ago, and I just couldn't get into it. A friend then loaned it to me on my Kindle earlier this year, and the only reason I read it was because I didn't want to hurt her feelings. But I did learn quite a bit about the circus and its inner workings. I took my daughter to the circus a month or so ago, and I found myself wondering how things were going backstage. I never thought about that kind of thing before so I have Water for Elephants to thank for that. :) And I do love Markus Zusak. I just wish it was easier to find his books. I was at a bookstore today that only had The Book Thief. So, my search continues...

Hey, Mel! :) Not 5 Billion. Only 3 Billion! :P Just messing. :P Anyway, I adore Ken Follet! Don't be intimidated by the thickness of his books. Surprisingly, I found them easy to read and exciting. He transcends generations, too. Was pleasantly surprised when my mom and dad told me they've read and loved Follet's works. Tell me what you think. :) Enjoy! :)

Wel Mel I found it a very interesting book. Some parts are very slow but in the end it has learned me a lot about certain events in history I never knew about.

Yep. I take payments in jam doughnuts..well that seems to be what I'm craving at the moment.

So you wouldn't be interested in a "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"? hehe.

Hmm, read Xenocide by Scott Card not too long ago - I like the Ender's Game series, its easy to read, but thought provoking. I've probably re-read book #2 in the series 4-5 times, which either speaks about its depth - or maybe I just don't get it :)

The same theme seems to run through his books - "to not judge a book by its cover".

Well - Harry Potter isn't really my thing, not sure why Rowlings writing doesn't appeal. Maybe the movies spoiled it a bit.

I've read the first part of the Fire and Ice series by G.Martin, and that was engrossing.
But didn't have too much magic at all. The characters seemed real - and the author doesn't seem scared to kill main characters off - which is refreshing.

I couldn't really pick a theme from your shelf though...thriller type books maybe? Or is it just books that offer a twist?
