Hey everyone, I'm a bookworm from Izmir/Turkey. You can call me Mel, it's what my international friends do, and I like it. Hey, it's because Stephenie Meyer had used the nickname Mel for Melanie (in "The Host" novel), and J. Love Hewitt is named as Melinda & her nickname is also Mel (in "Ghost Whisperer" tv show), and so on... But I'll also like it if you call me Melda. Because once (in "The Duma Key" novel) Stephen King had used my name for one of his fictional characters, her full name was "Nan Melda Lou". I was honoured, yeah. I love Stephen King.
Anyways, I think I need to tell you more about me and why I signed up here. Firstly, the most important thing you need to know about me is as I said before I'm truly a bookworm and books are like my family, they're definitely my first, eternal, and unique companies. At the beginning, where no friends was there, my books were with me. And along the way, where all the friends left me, my books were again with me. So, reading is like breathing to me and around me, people don't really understand that. Simply, I'm surrounded by people who prefer watching the movies of books or just... not reading but doing everything else. Well, I'm so sick of that. Of course I also have friends who love reading and books like me, but they're too few. I need more. And I believe I can find some people here who'll understand & want to be friends with me so we can discuss the books we've read, and we can also exchange book suggestions.
That was why I signed up here... As always, I guess I kept stuff about me for the final. My full name is Melda, with no middlenames. Another thing I don't like about myself. I'm 20 years old since November 12th 2008, though I hate to say my age. I'm getting old and old, but I could never read books enough to be satisfied. (Oh there are always more books to read every day...) I'm majoring in economics at a crappy university, and trying to be junior next year, I have to pass three more exams for that. You gotta know, I truly "hate" my major. I study just to get a diploma that's all. After I graduate (well if I can...) I will study Spanish Language & Literature and no one will be able to stop me, yea!
Well if you want to know more, my life is formed by those: my family & friends, Galatasaray & football (soccer), my books & music. Oh and I'm an amateur writer too. I sometimes write in English, or translate my short stories into English. Anyone can read them, but I don't think someone will be interested, 'coz my stories "suck". So; I looove watching soccer games, reading, listening to music, writing, watching tv, going to movies, hanging out with my friends, and umm... daydreaming. You know what, sometimes, when I write a story, small details come true the next day. Or I have them in my dreams. But that's why I love dreaming & writing stories. I can never be alive without dreaming. Ewh, who doesn't dream?
