Welcome to the “Who Doesn’t Love a Classic?” Group!
We’re a fun, lively group so I hope you enjoy it here. Feel free to take your time and browse around. We have group reads that take place every two months, a discussion thread where people post great reviews (post yours too!) and lots of other interesting conversations taking place all the time.
…And don’t forget to introduce yourself in the Introductions thread!
Thanks for the note, Michelle. Fragonard is a favorite of mine. What I like about this particular portrait is the atmosphere of quiet solitude ... and naturally a suitable book, not noisy or crass, thus Lewis, Dostoyevsky, and Systematic Theology ... with a healthy dose of Huckleberry Finn et. al (as on your shelf!) But how about that jazzy red piano ... very cool!
Welcome to the BTS Early Summer Read: The Caine Mutiny!
We need a volunteer for discussion leader. Usually we first offer it to the nominator.....
You nominated the book, so you have first dibs. If you do not wish to lead discussion, I will offer it to others, please let us know.
Oh dear....I have to have thoughts? First, you SHOULD read it. It is a very interesting tale, not nearly as horrible as the movies based on it tend to be. Second, it does move a tad slowly, but it is worth it in the end. Lastly, it is a series of letter and journal entries, but that actually works for it, rather than against it. Hope that helps. I'd like to see the library edition...I read it on my Kindle...so, no pics or anything.
