Hi! I saw it in the 99 HB bin. Ok then! When you visit Manila, I'll give it to you. For the mean time, let's just hope its still there! It was hidden very well and I think no one will notice it. Heh :-)

Hi Chloe,Wasn't able to visit NBS branches lately. Medyo diet muna ako sa pagbili ng libro but I did get "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova from Bookay-ukay. It is the unofficial book discussion for this month at FFP. My copy of "The Beatles Chronicle" was a Christmas gift from my sister 3 yeara ago (I'm a big fan). She bought it in Powerbooks but am not sure if it still available. The book is amazing: it chronicles EVERYDAY (as in their schedule per day) since the day they got together until the day they separated. Very detailed and well-researched.Happy reading!
Hi! i got really interested in the book and would want to read it too! Are you in a hurry to receive it? Kasi, I would love to read it first sana. If you want it promptly, I'll get it for you and just find another copy for myself! Tell me what you think. Thanks! =jem

oh hi! I thought you were still abroad. so you were finally able to purchase The Long Goodbye, have you started reading it? I haven't been to Bookay yet, it's a little far from our place but one of these days, I'm going to visit it. I seldom visit shelfari now as I'm more active at Multiply. If you have time, you can visit me there. it's http://arlene1027.multiply.com or if you have your own multiply account, just add me. I am presently in the middle of reading the first series of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, it's a historical account of 18th century Scotland. A very nice read.
Chloe,The Mandela autobio is readily available at National Bookstore (paperback is around Php 300+) so is the G.G. Marquez autobio (if not try Powerbooks and Fully Booked) although it is more expensive. Saw the hardbound copy a few months ago. Happy reading!
Hi Chloe,Went to Bookay last week and got a gift from Gene (aka Geze)- the Nelson Mandela autobio. Please text when you are in Manila. If I can leave the lab we can meet at Bookay bookstore. Take care and have a safe trip.

I'm reading In Sheep's Clothing by Mary Monroe.
Just dropping by to say hello, how are you doing and what book are you reading.
Hi maydayeve nasa Cebu ka na pala. At least shipping charges will be cheaper between us. Please keep in touch regarding your chosen book. If you don't yet have "The Kalahari Typing School for Men" by Alexander Mc Call, I can gladly swap it for "Lust for Life". Thanks!
Hi maydayeve. Sure. I'd love to get a copy of "Lust for Life". Let's swap books. What particular book(s) are you looking for? I may have them. Would you want me to send the books to you in the States or can you wait until you get back to the Philippines so its cheaper for both of us in terms of postage? I don't really have a bookmooch account yet though. Again, thanks so much.

Wow! 500 pages!! I'm sure it's a fascinating story though. I remember they made a movie of "Lust for Life" starring Kirk Douglas as Van Gogh back in the mid 50's, I think. When I went to New York City a couple of years ago, we went to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and got to see some of Van Gogh's paintings---the real thing! So incredible to see art by so many famous aritists and not just the prints but the originals. Picasso, Pollack, Dali, and many others.Anyway, back to books. :) Right now, I'm reading a very funny piece of fiction called "Bobbie Faye's (kinda, sorta, not really) Family Jewels" by Toni McGee Causey. Isn't that the craziest title? I read the first Bobbie Faye book and enjoyed it so much that I just had to get this one when it came out last month. The last 3 months or so, many of the authors I love to read came out with new books. I haven't gotten them all yet but I've bought some by some authors I've never read before. I have at least 10 books on my desk in the bedroom just waiting to be read. The next one I read will either be "Barefoot" by Elin Hilderbrand (I've never read anything by her before) or "The Girl Who Stopped Swimming" by Joshilyn Jackson, of whom I've read her other 2 books. That should keep me busy for awhile. Enjoy "Lust for Life." I'll look forward to reading what you thought about it.
Hi there. I just wanted you to know that if you have sent me a private message through Shelfari in the last month or so, I was not able to receive it. When I first joined Shelfari, I didn't have any problem with receiving e-mails through them, whether it was private messages from friends, friend requests, updates, or whatever. The last 6 weeks, I have not been receiving anything through Shelfari. I sent an e-mail to them a few weeks ago explaining the problem. They gave me suggestions but to make a long story not too much longer, it didn't work. I have opened a second e-mail account today through yahoo to be my primary e-mail account for Shelfari. Hopefully, this one will work. Just wanted to let you know agian that I wasn't ignoring you if you sent a private message, I just didn't receive it. By the way, what are you reading now?Have a good day. :)Jan
Hi Miss Maydayeve. Lest you think that "Ghost Stories" by Roald Dahl is a collection of his written stories geared for young adults; it is not. It actually short stories picked by Dahl to be anthologized in a now defunct TV show ala Twilight Zone. The stories are written by a variety of authors including late 19th century ones. The selections are good and can be read in a few minutes and usually , each has a twist in the end. Although, if you are a Roald Dahl fan, you are better sticking to works HE wrote. Yung lang po. :)
Hi Miss Maydayeve (come to think of it, you must be a Nick Joaquin fan), thanks so much! By the way, Bookay-ukay opening is this Saturday, the 28th of June. Tamang-tama, when you get back, hopefully you can visit the bookstore. By the way, I was able to get a copy of "The Agony and the Ecstasy" by Irving Stone (the novel about Michaelangelo) for Php200! What a bargain!

Hi maydayeve. Haven't read that book in the series yet. I'll just wait until you come to Manila on August. Thanks! This will just be the right time because hopefully the Bookay-ukay bookstore that is owned by some Flippers will be open by then. You may want to go there to get your book fix and meet the Flippers and Bookays during a book club session. The store is located at Maginhawa Street in UP Village (familiar with the place?). Tentative opening is within the month. Happy reading!
Great maydayeve! Sige I'll hold on pa. Madami pa naman akong nakapilang book. Also if you haven't read "Kalahari Typing School for Men" (book #4), maybe we can swap or borrow from each other? It's quite good as well. Thanks!
