Wow... what a trip. Excellent book, something you will be thinking about for a while after you read it. I loved that each character had their heroic traits and flaws.

Wow... this is detailed.... it's a fascinating, if not a tad too granular for my tastes. It's taken me a while to get through, but I liked it. If you are interested in how Homer's work has shaped several cultures, this is the book for you.

    The Peloponnesian War

A very accessible look at some of the incredible stories that took place during this extended and very bloody conflict between Sparta and Athens. The focus is on the people making the decisions, and each leader featured comes across as a real person fighting for their state's survival. Kagen does a great job of incorporating several sources and not just retelling Thucydides epic tome.

Great art, well constructed and so uniquely Frank Miller. There are more complete versions of this story out there, but none give as fast paced and desperate picture of the battle that saved democracy.
