I'm a librarian and a bibliophile, which I guess go together. I get most of my reading recommendations from my mother, but she's always got very good suggestions. My favorite genre is historical fiction, because I love to feel what it was like to live under those circumstances.

Pretty writing. I like most Chinese-based stories, but in this case, you really are waiting for the end... and then some.

Much better than the Di Vinci Code

Interesting. I think it was written better than Twilight, though it probably could have been shorter.

This is one of those books that will make you forget you are reading and want to call in sick to work. It blew me away. She is an excellent story teller who can (seemingly effortlessly) make minor details later become important to the story. It's a complex, well-told story and I'm holding my breath for book 2.

This was a simple fairy tale, but there's something more substantial and sophisticated. It is a sweet story that I just couldn't put down. I absolutely loved it.

About 10% Harry Potter with 90% Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy... only for kids. It was well done, though a little too ridiculous for my tastes.

This is a long and very strange book, but I loved it. It's modern, but written in a way that reminds one of Victor Hugo or Alexandre Dumas. The end has a huge twist which I found terribly sad. But also satisfying in that people were messing with things they shouldn't have and not focusing on the right things, and that has permanent consequences.

I pre-ordered this book months in advance, though it took me a while to actually finish it. I have to say the first book was by far my favorite, but I'm biased towards fantasy novels that happen in the real world. I did really like the last chapter where the new child dreamed of coming to our world because it sounded so much more exciting.
