Growing up I used to read and read. Science fiction was my first love, and is still my favorite. In the technology boom of the 1990s I became a slave to the screen and stopped reading books. A decade later I missed my books, but never had time for them. Now I make time. Books are an addiction so my "plan to read" shelf expands an order of... more »

    Hey!

So I was wondering. . . are you interested in a little book editing project? (Okay, "little" may be a bit of a misnomer. . .) I've just taken over as co-admin for a group that's working on cleaning up all the books on the Science Fiction group's shelf, and I'm looking for people to help us out. It's not much of a committment -- I don't bug people unless they haven't said anything in the group threads in 3 months, lol -- and you pick the books you want to work on yourself, so you can just edit whatever SF novel you're reading at the moment. If you're at all interested, please check the group out (http://www.shelfari.com/groups/51004/about) and if you like what you see let me know and I'll invite you to join. If nothing else, it'll beef up your editing numbers! :)

    Thanks!

    Hello again,

    Re your separation request:

Marykay submitted a request to move the edition The Defenders to a different book 18 minutes ago. (see cover)
Comment: Linked to the wrong book.
    3 members have this edition.
    Requested Target Work:
A new book will be created for this edition.
    Current Work:
The Defenders by Philip K. Dick

Sorry - I know the cover is wrong but the edition information is correct. This is an Amazon problem and Shelfari has a list of these cover issues for Amazon to solve. Because the system can't read "covers" and depends on the actual language of the edition, we have to leave it where it is. It is extremely unfortunate that more people have that Kindle edition than any other of The Defender because that makes this cover show up as the default.

Just wanted to explain why I am rejecting that separation request.

    Howdy,

Thanks for helping to clean up the Shelfari catalog. Just want to remind you of one of the title conventions...

When listing multiple titles on the title or subtitle line, please use this format: title 1 / title 2 / ... / title n.

OK? You'll see that I've edited at least one of your title change requests to follow this convention.

Thanks again for all your work,

    Hi,

I'm gonna have to quit the Shelfari Librarian work, I guess. I keep finding fascinating titles and checking that little box "buy from Amazon."

You have cost me the most today, I just purchased four (FOUR!) of those politically incorrect things.

Sigh - I have no self control!

    LOL,

Hey Marykay, I can't believe it has taken this long to get back to your comment. I have been extremely busy working on the next novel.

I'll see if I can beef up the description. Thanks for noticing.

I found myself reading the strips every single day as well.
It is a shame - though - that I actually found out about this great comic only in the past year.
But am glad that I can actually read the whole strips online, way back since it was first published in 2000.
I wish that one day I'd own/read the books like you did!
I wonder if you've specific genre that you actually focus on when you try to find materials to read?

Hi! Thank you so much for your friendship request =)
I saw that you like "Get Fuzzy" too!
Now that is so cool. I've never meet anyone else that share that interest with me.

Thanks, but cities are probably more dangerous. For example, you cannot get hit by a speeding ambulance in a rainforest. I wish the mountains (and clean air) were easier to get to, because I really wouldn't mind going back for a day :)
