I am Canadian and live every day as if it is Saturday - I am retired. I read romance because I enjoy it, have the time, and love the genre. I write reviews, so other readers can escape effortlessly. Although some may consider me too critical, I always try to be honest and always offer bona fide praise whenever it is due.

LOL MaryGrace, I used to schedule my vacations around when the library has their annual sale. My husband bravely faces the masses of people to help our daughter shop so that I can concentrate on finding my treasures. He will look for a few books too but nothing like I do. I go on the first day of the sale to find my "special authors" because of course none of them would be there on the second day. Day two is when I really go wild because the price is only $5 a bag. I can fit about 70 books per bag! That is when I grab "new to me" authors and anything in my favorite genres that catch my eye. I'm counting down the days!

I just discovered Christina Dodd this past year and have really enjoyed her books. Lisa Kleypas is another favorite of mine. I love her Wallflower series.

My local library is having its annual book sale next month so I am looking for reccommendation of great authors and or books. Last year, I was able to get slightly over 250 books for $30. That was a bad year for me, LOL. I usually get around 350-400 books for around the same price. My husband was getting tired last sale. Once he was done picking out books he wanted to leave. So if you have any suggestion between now and June 12th, please let me know!

Wow, tough question Mary Grace. Betrayed by Judith McWilliams started my love of historicals. I still read that book at least once a year. As for the rest of the top ten favorite Historical reads, I guess I'll try picking them by chosing one from each of my favorite authors. Gentleman of Substance by Deb Hale, Klondike Doctor by Kate Bridges, The Mysterious Miss M by Diane Gaston, One Night of Scandal by Nicola Cornick, Wyoming Wildfire by Elizabeth Lane, The Knight's Redemption by Joanne Rock, A Little Bit Wicked by Victoria Alexander, The Further Observances of Lady Whistledown by Julia Quinn, Slightly Dangerous by Mary Balogh and A Season of Scandal by Stephanie Laurens. Of course I could keep going. I have several more must buy authors. LOL I'm seriously addicted to Historical romances.

Hi Mary Grace- Thanks for adding me. My name is Melanie. Ditto on the emotional response, that is why I love to read. I love to get lost into a book. P& P gives me so much pleasure to read. Mr Darcy is one of my all time favorite characters.
    Thanks again for the friendship..

LOL - my given name is Mary Grace, but the only ones who call me that now are family. My mom is still very much 'old school Catholic,' too. We kids attended parochial grade school, and went on to Catholic high school (all-girl h.s. for me and my sister; my brother and other sister chose co-ed h.s.).

My best friend and I used to raid the bookmobile every summer (before we learned to drive). We'd spend a good hour or two, choosing books, taking advantage of the air conditioning, then zip across the street to my house, where we'd hole up in my room, surrounded by all our lovely books. We definitely read most of the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series.

Thanks much for your well wishes on my writing. I don't always have enough time to work on my WIP, but I'm definitely trying to nurture it along.
    Best,
    ~Mary

Ah yes, The Romance Reader. They are very nice people. I did an interview with them when Gladiator's Honour came out. They haven't reviewed The Roman's Virgin Mistress which was out last month but it was well recieved elsewhere.Dear Author liked it as did the Romance Reader at Heart.
Anyway, I hope if you find either of the books that you enjoy them. I certainly enjoyed writing them. My next one out in Canada is A Christmas Wedding wager which is an early Victorian.

I noticed that Elizabeth Hoyt is on your auto buy list. She has just joined shelfari -- if you are interested.
I agree with you about what makes a good book btw.

Hi! I love your cameo--so elegant. I also note you shelve some of my favorites, esp Anita Mills's "The Duke's Double," Emma Lange's "The Irish Rake" Mary Balogh's "The Secret Pearl" and the early Loraine Heath westerns. I note only one Loretta Chase--have you read her early Regencies? "Knave's Wager" is one of the best Regencies ever written! (IMHO, of course.) Also, have you read Carla Kelly? She wrote wonderful Regencies for Signet and I'm so happy she is now back in print writing for Harlequin Historical. Thanks for letting me browse your shelves.

Hi! So glad you see you here. I hope your sister enjoyed that story. I set it in one of my favorite places, Virginia City. Then, because I loved it so much I set Abducted at the Altar there for part of the story as well. And I read your profile about a good book. I agree! I try to put honest and true emotion in my stories. I'm blogging about Emotion all this week, as a matter of fact!
