Who I am: inventor, avid consumer of all forms of escapist fiction (except sappy romances), doting mother of my only child, the apple of my eye. Not necessarily in that order. I don't suffer fools gladly. I'm a sometime political activist. I fear that the human species has promoted itself above its level of competence.

Many years ago we had a conversation about the nature of consciousness. If you're still interested in the topic, you may want to read "Consciousness Explained" by Daniel C. Dennett. It was published in 1992, and is a thorough exploration of some of the issues of consciousness.

    Ahoy there!
Good to have some company in the Saloon, was getting a bit lonely in there. `To Say Nothing of the Dog` is one I`ve been meaning to read for a long time, can you give me a glowing recommendation?
